How PUMA Group’s ‘Go Wild’ ad looks to revive its humorous legacy with a new perspective Today, the sportswear has unveiled its most “ambitious” campaign, which it hopes will mark a bold new chapter in its brand identity. I sat down with the brand's senior director of global brand strategy and communication Julie Legrand Haverkamp to hear about the new chapter. “We found that Puma used to have a sense of humor that set us apart from the rest of the industry, especially in the ‘80s and ‘90s. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, even though we’re serious about sports,” she told me. A key part of this is the ad's soundtrack which is a a reworking of Afroman’s noughties hit Because I Got High which plays on the concept of a ‘runner’s high’. “When briefing the agency (adam&eveDDB), we wanted a song that captured that spirit. That’s how we landed on a track that celebrates the ‘runner’s high’- the euphoric feeling runners experience.” Read on The Drum this morning, I'll leave the link in the comments.
