Tilda's Management Team joined the afternoon shift at The Felix Project Kitchen. Altogether that day they prepared 4,002 freshly cooked meals to be distributed to charities working to combat food poverty in London. As part of our long-standing partnership with The Felix Project each week, Tilda delivers rice to support the kitchen and donates food products for their foodbank network. Meet the growers🌱 In 2023 we partnered with over 900 progressive farmers in India to adopt innovative farming techniques that transform the way rice is grown. Alternate Wet Drying is a more climate-friendly approach to growing rice where instead of constantly flooding the fields, the soil surface is allowed to dry out, conserving water by up to 30%. This reduces the growth of anaerobic bacteria that results in a 45% reduction in methane emissions. Feedback from farmers has been very encouraging with tangible benefits for them and their environment. What do we mean by responsible growing and why does it matter? We partner with progressive farmers to use more responsible growing methods. 💧Traditional rice farming requires a lot of water but by adopting the Alternate Wet Drying method, water usage can be reduced by up to 30%. That’s great for preserving ground water. ☁️ Less flooding also means a huge 45% reduction in methane emissions. And a 28% reduction in total greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional farming. We're delighted to support The Felix Project and have been since its foundation in 2017 distributing food products free of charge to charities in its Food Bank network supporting elderly and homeless people, those with mental health issues, refugees and asylum seekers, families and children. In 2022, The Felix Project opened a kitchen preparing hot meals in London and Tilda® | B Corp started delivering rice in bulk to keep their kitchen stocked.
