This year, I've taken part in Black Introvert Week UK and feature in their film premiere to speak about why introverts from Black backgrounds are often misunderstood and overlooked and how best we can work to involve and value more introspective personality types in the workplace. Huge thanks to the UK Black Comms Network and Richard Etienne for getting me involved in this project. ✨ What a Night at Little Baobab! ✨ Last week, our UK BCN Women’s group gathered at Little Baobab—London’s best new Senegalese spot—and it was nothing short of amazing. From the delicious food to the heartwarming conversations, it was exactly the recharge and catch up we needed. We ate, we laughed, we shared, and most importantly, we connected. It was so great to see old faces and welcome new ones into our growing community. It was a fun evening, and we can’t wait to bring more of these IRL experiences to life as we wrap up the year. 🎉

We love to see it Samiah Anderson 😊

Labour Conference 2024, has been the busiest yet with techUK! 🎉 Packed with key discussions on the Government’s central Growth Mission—an challenge the digital economy is critical to. Over the past few days, I’ve had the privilege of participating in panels and roundtables centered on this very mission: techUK with the Startup Coalition, Baroness Jones, Callum Anderson MP, Claire Hughes MP, Gordon McKee MP hosted a roundtable to explore strategies and policies that can support the scaling of start-ups, enhance their impact, and ensuring sustainable growth across the UK. On Tuesday, I spoke on a panel focusing on ‘Unleashing the AI Opportunities’, led by Kao Data where we discussed the immense potential for AI and data centres in driving growth. I also joined The Purpose Coalition on a panel addressing Breaking Down Barriers to Skills, where I highlighted the work Nimmi Patel and TechSkills.org our sister organisation partnering with a growing community of universities and training providers to develop the digital talent industry needs. At the Small Business Forum convened by Labour Business, I sat alongside Kanishka Narayan and small business leaders, to ask the hard questions on what can be done to improve diversity in Entrepreneurialism and strategies to improve access to business finance for underrepresented groups. Thank you to Airbus and The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade for inviting me to roundtables attended by Government Ministers and business leaders discussing the impact of our UK trade and to our economy. Finally, Saturday was a highlight - attending my first National Women’s Conference, where the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves emphasised how supporting women-led businesses can unlock economic growth across the UK nations and regions. A huge thank you to my team amazing techUK team on the ground in Liverpool, who organised and led a fantastic line up of events Alice Campbell Archie Breare Neil Ross Antony Walker Julian David #techUK #LabourPartyConference24 #GrowthMission #Trade #Policy #DigitalEconomy

“I really want to highlight the scope for comms and marketing within the legal industry as many don't know that what I do is a thing! The campaign I love is Herbert Smith Freehills 'TechQuake'. I love this campaign because: 👉🏾They have moved away from stale thought leadership and towards more of a reportage style. 👉🏾 Better media, expert photography that tells a story and interviews and articles that are both commercial aware and interesting. 👉🏾 AI is everywhere now and it has been refreshing to see a campaign around the topic that really stands out. From a comms perspective, it is so much easier (and more pleasant) to place content that seeks to really engage the reader.” Georgina Bennett-Warner Head of PR and Communications at Wedlake Bell talks campaigns she loves on our trailblazers blog and it’s a must-read.
