Yesterday we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Isle of Man Ship Registry at Trinity House in London. Cameron Mitchell, Director of the Isle of Man Ship Registry, thanked attendees for their continuous support of the flag. Graham Candy, Head of the UK Shipping Concierge, said: "It is a privilege to attend and support the Isle of Man Ship Registry as they celebrate this historic landmark. We look forward to many more years of collaboration with the flag as part of the Red Ensign Group."

We are delighted to announce Graham Candy has been appointed as Head of the UK Shipping Concierge until the New Year. Graham, who is well known in the shipping industry, will oversee the UK Shipping Concierge in shaping and promoting the UK’s maritime offer. This includes engaging with international maritime businesses that wish to do business with the UK, and working collaboratively with other stakeholders engaged in attracting maritime business to the UK. A mental health champion who founded the globally-used Seafarers Happiness Index, four sailors who rescued over 100 people and a Captain mentoring women in maritime are among those to be awarded Merchant Navy Medals. 3 September is Merchant Navy Day – a day to remember and honour those who lost their lives in the pursuit of their work at sea, and those who continue to keep essential supply lines in operation. As a result of consultation from Monday 5 August, Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) under 2.5 metres in overall length are now exempt from certification. The exemption comes as a result of feedback provided via consultation and forms part of our commitment to prioritise work specifically supporting the smallest MASS. This is the first step in a package of work to provide support to the small MASS sector (also known as MiniMASS). A further stage will determine a pathway for MiniMASS above 2.5 metres in overall length. A Marine Guidance Notice (MGN) has been published outlining an exemption to Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) of less than 2.5 metres in length overall.
