About us
UKOPA (the United Kingdom Onshore Pipeline Operators’ Association) is the industry body behind more than 27,000km of essential pipeline infrastructure. The organisation exists to provide the recognised and authoritative view of UK pipeline operators on strategic issues relating to safety management, operations and integrity of onshore pipelines. The network of pipelines operated by UKOPA’s members is used to transport gas, fuels and chemicals that are vital to the economy of the United Kingdom. The Association helps ensure the integrity of this pipeline infrastructure by seeking to effectively influence the development and implementation of pipeline-related legislation and standards for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders. It also promotes safety and best practice in the pipeline industry. Established in 1996, UKOPA continues to bring operators together to help them stay up to date with the latest industry initiatives, technologies and good practices, while providing an expert industry voice to facilitate closer collaboration between members as well as regulators and other key stakeholders.

That's October's Pipeline Emergency Response Officers (PERO) course completed. The course is unique to UKOPA in supporting its members with bespoke pipeline industry specific response training. Working alongside the The Fire Service College , the attendees left to return across the UK to their homes and stand-by rotas. With a greater and deeper understanding of what they could face, if their Pipeline assets were the centre of an incident. Huge Congratulations to our Board Member Geoff Glover from SABIC for achieving 5️⃣0️⃣ Years in Industry! Having started as an Apprentice at ICI in 1974! Thank you for your ongoing contributions to the Industry Geoff and for all the support you’ve given to UKOPA working groups over the years! #Pipelines #ServiceAward #Apprenticeships #UKOPA
I have recently completed 50 year's service to the industry. Starting work in September1974 as an apprentice Instrument Technician with (ICI) Imperial Chemicals Industry. Based on Teesside, working on a number of different roles that took me offshore and around the UK over the first 20 years. Joined the Pipeline team in 1996 and progressed to Pipeline manager 10 years ago, managing the ethylene network for SABIC UK Petrochemicals Limited. A pleasure to have worked many great people from the industry over the last 50 year's.

We’d like to extend a special ‘Thank you’ to our recent guest speaker Dr Elizabeth Sackett, from @SwanseaUniversity who gave an insightful talk on Carrie Prescott’s MSc project that examined the ‘Mechanical properties and weld quality of vintage seam-welded pipe’. The research and insights gained will be useful for UKOPA Members to better understand longevity of seam welds and their impacts on pipeline integrity. 🧐 👩🔬🎓🏫

Today is World Mental Health Day, focusing on the theme of prioritising mental health in the workplace. To support this, we were delighted to welcome Bart and Gary from Andy’s Man Club to our recent Member’s meeting. Andy’s Man Club is a charity set up to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and that creates a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives. UKOPA was delighted to have made a £1,000 donation to support the positive work undertaken by this excellent charity. #Itsgoodtotalk #suicideprevention #supportingmentalhealth #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealthintheworkplace
