UQ was the lead sponsor and was much present at the ICAP Satellite Meetings (University of Sussex) this week. UQ's Mark Webber even delivered an insightful talk on his research paper titled "The Impact of Qubit Connectivity on Quantum Error Correction." 🔹 The key highlights were: - Trapped-Ion Technology: Demonstrated the benefits of high-fidelity long-range qubit shuttling. - Quantum Error Correction: Enhanced codes requiring complex qubit connectivity. - Decoder Development: Successfully facilitated transversal CNOT operations. - Performance Comparison: Showcased improvements over lattice surgery using realistic error models. - Resource Estimation: Updated estimates to drive towards quantum advantage. We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to the engaging discussions. This event reinforced our commitment to advancing fault-tolerant quantum computing and exploring new potentials for quantum applications. #QuantumComputing #QuantumErrorCorrection #TrappedIons #QubitConnectivity #QuantumAdvantage #TechTalk #Innovation #SolveScaleChangeWorld
About us
A quantum computer harnesses the fundamental forces that govern the physical world. It can efficiently model complex systems in ways that would take the best classical computer millions of years, and so help revolutionise drug design, climate modelling, battery chemistry, and many other vital processes. But to achieve all this, we need to make quantum computers work reliably at scale. We started Universal Quantum to meet this challenge - because we believe that by doing so, we can help solve the most difficult problems faced by humanity. We’re following a pragmatic, engineering-based roadmap to build a device that is useful in the real world: a quantum computer that has utility. Every approach we take, every solution we devise, is geared towards this goal.

We relished the opportunity to chat to students about Quantum on Tuesday at the Hazelwick Careers Fair. Having recently welcomed teachers from the local school to our labs, yesterday was our chance to connect with students interested in a career in Science and Technology. We received some really insightful questions. We recognise and accept our responsibility to continually educate and inform young people about the sector, and to help them envisage a career path in quantum computing. #SolveScaleChangeWorld #QuantumComputing

'Neurodiversity is an umbrella term referring to the natural diversity of the human brain, and I’m deeply encouraged to see awareness increasing here. However, as with any term that gains traction and becomes part of a movement in the DEI space, there’s a lot of misinformation and tokenistic adoption.' A riveting conversation between UQ's CEO, Sebastian Weidt and Benjamin Wolba! See a link to the full interview here. https://lnkd.in/e8c5zTD8 #SolveScaleChangeWorld #QuantumComputing
This is my longest and most in-depth interview with a computing startup so far, based on the first-ever Future of Computing podcast, recorded with the CEO, Sebastian Weidt, at this year's Latitude59 conference While quantum startups keep announcing quantum computers with increasingly many qubits, the reality is that these qubits are error-prone, diminishing what their quantum computers can do today. Increasing the number of error-free qubits is crucial. But it's also quite challenging. Universal Quantum was founded by Sebastian Weidt and Winfried Hensinger in late 2018 to build fully scalable quantum computers using well-established microchip technology and a unique modular approach. It raised a $4.5 million seed round in 2020 from Hoxton Ventures, Village Global, Propagator Ventures, Luminous Ventures, and 7percent Ventures, extended by Quantum Exponential in 2022. Learn more from our interview about the marvels of quantum computing, what quantum computers with millions of quantum bits will be capable of, and how we will get there: #FutureOfComputing #Future #Computing #Universal #Quantum #QuantumComputing #Startups #Entrepreneurs #VC #VentureCapital #Newsletter #Interview #UniversalQuantum

'Sub-atomic theory, entanglement, and the notion that something might be in two places at once are not easy to grapple with. However, Qureca and Universal Quantum brought the science and its applications to life in a productive "professor meets customer" session on 8th July 2024. Held in the amazing London Foundling Museum, the day was deeply inspiring given the scale of the 18th-century compassion in the building for England’s most vulnerable children and its contrast with the enormity of the opportunity that this 21st-century science would confer on humanity.' - Air Marshal Andrew Turner CB CBE FRAeS CMgr CCMI Read more about the event below. #SolveScaleChangeWorld #QuantumComputing
