And that’s a wrap! This week we marked the University’s world-class research and leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) with a series of events in London. Across three days our amazing researchers engaged with hundreds of representatives from alumni, industry, politics, and the media. They shared how Edinburgh is using AI to change lives and transform areas such as healthcare, semiconductors and robotics, with a strong focus on the technology’s ethical and societal implications. With the UK Government’s ambitious plans to develop AI growth zones, we spoke with audiences about how Edinburgh stands ready to support the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology vision. The University is at the heart of a special AI ecosystem. We have one of the biggest clusters of AI talent in Europe, the compute power via hosting the national supercomputer, and the access to rich datasets thanks to our valued partners. Edinburgh Innovations, our commercialisation service, is working with industry to turn ideas into society-changing, economy-growing reality. A special thank you to the Secretary of State for Scotland Ian Murray MP who addressed our alumni and hosted several events at Scotland Office's Dover House. And now it’s back to Edinburgh to continue pushing the boundaries of AI.
