Built by surveyors, for surveyors we design, build and operate Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV's).
About us
Unmanned Survey Solutions (USS) design, build and operate Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV's). We are a team of highly skilled and experienced surveyors who created USS in response to increasing demands for smarter USV’s and low carbon solutions. ‘Built by surveyors for surveyors’ we offer two classes of USV: The Inception Class DC electric USV, which is 2m long and ideal for inland waterways, harbours and coastal operations. The Accession Class hybrid USV, which has being designed and extensively tested to operate in offshore waters. This class of USV has been successfully proven as a beyond line of sight solution for marine data harvesting and saves >95% carbon emissions compared to a traditional vessel. Both classes of USV's specifically offer Hydrographic & Geophysical survey capability including sensors such as multi-beam, sides-scan, Sub-bottom and tower solutions, but their modular designs allows for many different sensors to be installed. All our USV’s are fully customisable to client applications and operated following strict procedures to ensure safe operations. This allows for greater savings in time, money and most importantly carbon emissions. Exceeding industry standards without compromise we are helping to change the industry for the better of the planet.

🆕 Unmanned Survey Solutions unveils USV with Robosys Automation's VOYAGER AI Survey control system 🎯 Unmanned Survey Solutions (USS), UK-based USV developer, has unveiled and commissioned its latest Accession class Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) featuring Robosys Automation’s groundbreaking VOYAGER AI Survey advanced maritime autonomy suite. The USS Accession class vessel is pioneering, eco-friendly, repeatable and reliable for offshore Beyond Line of Sight (BLoS) operations together with its hybrid power system. Meticulously designed for high performance, endurance, versatility and low emissions, the Accession excels due to its modular payload system, exceptional stability, and advanced hybrid battery systems, with diverse capabilities as a sensor agnostic platform for the integration of a vast array of mission-specific instruments. Working with leading global clients in the maritime sector, USS is successfully mobilising, deploying and remotely operating its advanced vessels in offshore, coastal and inland waters for maritime data acquisition projects including offshore renewable energy industries, oil & gas, dredging and construction, ports and harbours, and defence & security, as well as for scientific and environmental purposes. Robosys Automation' VOYAGER AI SURVEY delivers Remote Control and Autonomous Navigation with Autonomous Collision Avoidance, Obstacle Avoidance, combined with Anti-Grounding features enabled by integration of S-57 ENC charts. Specifically designed for the marine survey sector, it also boasts a software Autopilot with Widget control, Heading & Track Control, and Route(s) & Waypoint(s) Planning & Following, with Approach, Harbour and Tidal modes. The integration also sees over 200 PLC channels integrated in to the single, integrated, VOYAGER AI User Interface. 🎤 James Williams, Unmanned Survey Solutions CEO comments,” Choosing Robosys as a strategic partner for the main control and autopilot system onboard the Accession class USVs has resulted in a step change in our operational capabilities. Robosys’ support and attention to detail has been exemplary. We look forward to working with them on new vessels builds over the coming years as the adoption of USVs becomes standard in the maritime industry”. 📃📷 Source: Unmanned Survey Solutions #robosys #robosysautomation #survey #usv #unmannedsufacevehicle #uss #unmannedsurveysolutions #madeinuk #accession #maritimeautomy #hydrospatial #massworldnews

The path of R&D can be both frustrating and rewarding, however it is always exciting! Here is the Accession Class USV on its first sea trials as a DC powered 3.5m LoA vessel vs the latest Hybrid 5m LoA variant. One key aspect of a 'design, build and operate' business model is that your operational experience feeds directly back to your R&D engineers to improve product performance and further mitigate risk. Our IP is not just about the vessel, but how our team conducts remote operations safely and efficiently whilst reducing carbon emissions. #usv #asv #rouv #RandD #unmannedsystems #uncrewedsystems #carbonreduction #thefutureisnow

Its great to be working with with such an influential consultancy firm on this important issue. Lets hope we can help to change things for the better of the entire industry.
🚀 Important update on Mini MASS! 🌊 Unmanned Survey Solutions and Stehr Consulting Ltd are leading on defining the smaller, lower risk Marine Autonomous Surface Ships (Mini MASS). The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) listened to feedback from vessel owners and operators about certification challenges for the smallest MASS. As a result, they released MGN 702 (M), granting a General Exemption for MASS under 2.5m length overall (LOA). But this is just the beginning! The MCA is working on a proportional certification pathway for 'Mini MASS' over 2.5m. So, what should the ideal maximum length for 'Mini MASS' be? And is length alone the best way to characterise the risk envelope? Through our Innovate UK (Launchpad: Marine and Maritime in the Great South-West) project, we conducted an industry poll and have recommended a 7m LOA with a maximum speed of 8 knots as the baseline for defining the upper limit of ‘Mini MASS’. This recommendation is now with the MCA for review. 📅 Mark your calendars! On Wednesday 14th August, the MCA is hosting a stakeholder engagement meeting to present their draft proposal for Mini MASS over 2.5m. It's a prime opportunity for stakeholders to discuss and share their views. If you're in the sector and have insights on Mini MASS, we urge you make your voice heard. For more details on our Technical Memo and how to participate, reach out to James Williams or Ashley Stehr. Let's unlock the potential of Mini MASS in UK waters together! Please share this post and spread the word! 💪🌍 #MarineAutonomousSurfaceShips #MASS #MiniMASS #USV #ASV #unmannedsystems #uncrewedsystems #MaritimeInnovation #MarineTech #StakeholderEngagement #thefutureisnow
