To echo the words of our Non-Executive Chairman, Derek Lickorish MBE, we at Utilita are deeply saddened by the passing of Audrey Gallacher - a dedicated advocate for consumer issues within the energy industry. Having known Audrey for the past 30 years, Derek was delighted to learn that Energy UK, alongside Ofgem and Citizens Advice, are honouring her career with a fixed-term role that will provide the successful candidate with hands-on exposure to energy policy from the viewpoint of a trade association, consumer body, and regulator. To learn more about the role visit https://lnkd.in/eU_eZS4Q
The energy industry was very privileged to work with Audrey Gallacher who sadly left this world far too soon. She worked tirelessly during her career and made an outstanding contribution to the industry. I knew Audrey for about 30 years and our paths often crossed. She championed consumer issues across the energy system and her work has benefited people all across the UK. During her career, she spent time working with the regulator, Ofgem, the consumer body, Citizens Advice and the industry body, Energy UK. I was therefore delighted to learn that to honour Audrey and her career, in conjunction with Ofgem and Citizens Advice, Energy UK is able to offer a fixed-term role of 2 years which will rotate around these organisations at the heart of the energy industry. This role has been designed to give people at the start of their careers an introduction and exposure to the breadth of energy policy from the viewpoint of a trade association, consumer body, and regulator. It is open to those who are looking for a direct route into work rather than spending time at university. The successful candidate will be employed by Energy UK where they will spend 8 months. They will then be seconded to both Citizens Advice for 8 months and Ofgem for 8 months. Each organisation has a different role within the sector, and the work undertaken at each will vary. All three will provide a thorough introduction to different parts of the energy sector. Huge congratulations to EUK for making this happen! More information about the job role at each location can be found from the link below.

Let's look back at our time in Liverpool for the Labour Party Annual Conference! We had the opportunity to discuss how to ensure vulnerable households have access to the energy they need this winter - calling for short and long-term energy solutions to support them amidst the increased Energy Price Cap. Utilita Ambassador, David James, was also on hand to spread the word about Football Rebooted and how we're helping Britain recycle their pre-loved football boots.

We're delighted to be in Liverpool for the Labour Party Annual Conference! So far, we've had lots of great discussions around the shared purpose of ensuring vulnerable households have access to the energy they need this winter. Plus, our conference event 'Tackling fuel poverty the smart way' chaired by our Non-Executive Chairman, Derek Lickorish MBE reiterated these conversations - encouraging stakeholders from across the energy spectrum to share expertise on how the issue can be tackled now and in the long run. We'd also like to extend our thanks to Catherine McKinnell MP, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne North and Minister of State for Schools Standard, for taking time out of her busy schedule to talk to us about our Football Rebooted movement with Utilita Ambassador and Former England Goalkeeper, David James. To learn more about Football Rebooted or to sign up to start redistributing boots within your club, school, or local community, visit www.footballrebooted.co.uk.
