Valleys to Coast are delighted to be collaborating with Bridgend County Borough Council and Bridgend Local Nature Partnership to improve access to nature for the community in Blaencaerau, whilst simultaneously enhancing biodiversity and habitat connectivity. With thanks to a Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government Local Places for Nature £150,000 grant scheme, BCBC have awarded a contract to Llanscapes Uk to implement nature and well being improvements. After consultation and engagement with residents, this scheme includes native woodland planting, tree and bulb planting along the spine (main) road of the estate, the creation of a ‘wildlife garden’ with native plant species, paths, and informal seating, and a community food growing area. This initiative will compliment our #growthforgood project to capture carbon and utilise our green and grey spaces more effectively and creatively.
