Vodafone and Closing the Loop’s One for One phone recycling programme has won x2 Golds at the Digital Communication Awards (DCA) 2024 🥳 The scheme is based on Vodafone's promise to recycle one old phone for every new one sold in Germany. We’re creating a new logistics hub to hold mobile and fixed network equipment for our European markets. An agreement to create the facility was signed today by our CFO Luka Mucic and Luxembourg Minister of the Economy, SME, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles.   The new facility, which will be managed by Vodafone Procurement Company, will ensure that equipment like antennas, and routers can be moved more efficiently to where they are needed. m-mama, the lifesaving national emergency service for pregnant women and newborns has secured $13.5 million in funding to launch in Malawi and expand in Tanzania. Vodafone Foundation, m-mama’s lead funding and technical partner, committed $6 million in 2023 to launch the service in Malawi. This has been matched by $1 million from USAID and $4.5 million from a coalition of philanthropies and partners. The funds will enable clinical mapping of health facility capabilities, rural transport routes and the recruitment of drivers who can provide emergency transport for pregnant women and their newborns. Vodafone Foundation has also committed an additional $2 million to establish a regional team based in Tanzania, to be tasked with maintaining a high quality of service and expanding its reach across sub-Saharan Africa. Vodafone and Three’s response to the CMA’s Notice of Possible Remedies on their proposed UK merger has been published today. The response reiterates that the merger will be pro-competitive and the parties remain confident that the outstanding issues will be resolved. Two substantial remedies have already been tabled: an £11 billion network investment programme and a sale of spectrum to provide greater balance of holdings in the market.
