Last week, several members of our team were in Yorkshire for the Calm Networks training programme! The team explored the critical issue of surge effects caused by human error when operating hydrants, valves, and pumps. The training provided in-depth insights into the causes and consequences of transient surges in water networks. Our team gained valuable operational tips and best practices to prevent surges that can lead to leaks and bursts. It was a productive course of hands-on scenarios and collaborative learning! #WaterDirect #CalmNetworks #Training

How do you get better at managing incidents? By practising and refining your approach! This week, our team took part in a mock incident exercise, setting up a bottled water distribution station in a challenging location. The task involved establishing multiple stations, managing traffic flow, and securing storage facilities which are critical factors to ensuring we can provide alternative water supplies quickly and efficiently on a mass scale. This hands-on experience allows us to better support our utility partners and customers when rapid response is needed. Late-night delivery at the Port of Hull! Two nights ago, we had the privilege of supplying 30,000 litres of quality-assured drinking water to a large shipping vessel docked at the Port of Hull, supporting the renewable energy sector in a small yet crucial way. This vessel carries critical components for offshore wind turbines, helping to power a sustainable future. We had a great time catching up with industry friends and partners at the Showman's Show 2024, the UK's most comprehensive exhibition of products, services and entertainment options for the outdoor and eventing industries! After an action-packed 2024 events season, it was great to take a moment to reconnect and reflect on all the incredible work we’ve done together. The energy at the Showman’s Show was unbeatable, and it’s always inspiring to see how this industry keeps raising the bar! It was a pleasure to catch up with MTD Water, Qdos Event Hire Ltd, Hopkins Machinery Ltd, Threshold Sports, Togather, Ontrax Rentals, GMC Events International, Ziggucamp , LS Events, StandOut Magazine (Stand Out Live Events Magazine), and so many more. From ensuring seamless water supply at events (relying on more than just Donkey-power!) to sharing insights on how we can all continue to push the boundaries, we loved every conversation. We were really pleased to support the recent Ride Across Britain event. As more than 700 determined cyclists pedalled their way across the UK in the incredible Ride Across Britain, we were working behind the scenes to provide all potable water requirements and related services at the 10 pit stops across the country. Over the nine days and 980 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats, our team ensured that the riders and 150+ crew had access to clean water for drinking and welfare units at each stage of the race, delivering in excess of 540,000 litres of potable water over the course of the event. We’re incredibly proud to have supported these amazing riders, whose efforts are raising money for some fantastic causes. Hats off to every cyclist who took on the “end-to-end” challenge.
