We’re stoked to be collaborating with the World Cetacean Alliance as part of our Rescue to Recycle Campaign. The World Cetacean Alliance, known for its unwavering commitment to the protection of cetaceans, plays a crucial role in safeguarding whales, dolphins, and porpoises across the globe. Their mission to unite and empower individuals, organisations, and communities to take meaningful action aligns perfectly with our own values and goals. Together, we are not only shining a spotlight on the dangers of ghost fishing gear, but we’re also demonstrating the immense potential of collective effort. Through this partnership, we hope to inspire others to take part in the movement and contribute to a healthier future for our oceans.

About us
Waterhaul's mission is to collect ghost nets from our oceans and transform it into high-quality, functional products and 'symbols for change’. We innovate and collaborate to best serve this mission purpose, working to place an economic value on the ‘problem’ of marine plastic - thereby incentivising a pathway for it’s removal and create a net-positive impact on our oceans health. All of our products are created in a circular-economy framework - each item is made from recycled materials and fully recyclable at the end of its lifetime.

Proud to announce our latest Rescue to Recycle project! 🐋 On the 21st September 2023, a marine tour vessel from Raggy Charters in Algoa Bay, South Africa, spotted a juvenile Humpback Whale entangled in a mass of ropes and floating buoys. Though the whale was in good health, the ghost gear severely hindered its ability to dive and feed, slowly exhausting them, so it was vital the whale was freed quickly. The Raggy Charters crew notified the National Sea Rescue Institute, who met them at the scene. The disentanglement process proved to be difficult, due to the amount of strands that needed cutting, but after several hours of effort from the sea rescue team, the whale was successfully freed, emerging from the ordeal unscathed. We are pleased to say that the rescued whale has since been identified alive and healthy, thanks to the unique patterns on their tail. Through collaborative links with the WCA, the recovered ghost gear has since made its way to Waterhaul HQ in Cornwall, UK, where we saw an opportunity to create something truly unique from this near-tragedy. Head to waterhaul.co/r2r to learn more about our latest #rescuetorecycle campaign! 🐋♻ World Cetacean Alliance Raggy Charters Happywhale

Waterhaul x Raison Opticians 👓 Last week the Jon and Melissa installed a positively impactful window display at Raison Opticians in Helston, who are well renowned within the town for their creative and eye-catching window displays! This is a great example of how we're able to showcase our mission and products in a clear way, but make people stop and look. It's all about educating people on our mission and working with likeminded retailers and opticians enables this on a ground level, which we love. #opticians #visualmerchandising #eyewear

When your post-work paddleboard sesh turns into a ghost gear recovery mission ♻ Last night some of the team took advantage of the calm conditions and headed out to explore the Newquay coastline via paddleboard, where we encountered this huge haul of ghost gear wedged into a hidden cove. Luckily we'd come prepared with our beach cleaners knives to untangle the gear, and soon had our haul loaded up onto our boards, ready for a long paddle back to Fistral Beach The haul is now waiting to be washed, weighed and processed at our recycling centre in Cornwall; ready to be recycled into our eyewear and litter picking equipment. ♻
