The events industry has a choice. It can pay lip service to combating the climate crisis or it can do something about it. Where do you stand? Our film, The Climate is Changing and So Are We, features isla members who aren’t waiting for someone else to fix things—they’re taking charge together. Our members challenge the status quo, and prove that change is possible. A massive thank you to the isla members featured in the film and the over 2,500 event professionals who’ve been part of the isla membership over the last 4 years. We're proud to see you driving change, redefining what’s possible, and leading by example. 💚 👇 Venetia Campbell - Eclipse Global, Johnjoseph Ryan - Wood Fashioners, Aarron Mcgurk (AInstAM) - Chorus, Johannes Erasmus - d&b solutions, Marie Simpson (Soanes) - Identity, Rui Cruz Alves - Emota, Lauren Gowing - Collaborate Global, Alexis Parkin - 4Wall, Sam Robson - TAG, Connor Robertson - Smyle #SustainableEvents #EventProfs #EventProfsUK

As Lucie Hackney explains, our Materials Library Action Group, formed by members of the events community, are working to build this resource, so everybody can benefit. Do you create, or know of a material that you think should be included? Comment below or drop us a message! #SustainableEvents #CarbonMeasurement

We are beyond the point where we can run events without suitable waste solutions ⛔ In order to limit the environmental impact of events, we need to be focused on waste reduction and consider the onward journey of all the materials we're working with. The key is to ensure that your 'stuff' (as Cordelia Ashwell so excellently puts it) can be: ✅ REUSED for another event ✅ REPAIRED so it doesn't need to be discarded after becoming damaged ✅ RECYCLED into something else By spending mindfully and working with partners who are doing the same, we can consider from the design phase how reduce the amount of waste the events industry is currently sending to landfill. We must ensure we source our materials with a clear onwards life in mind, to keep them in-use. 📍 Event Sustainability Live 📽️ First Sight Media #EventProfs #SustainableEvents #EventWaste

Plant based catering can produce 90% less emissions than red meat... This is what we reported in our last Temperature Check Report and event organisers are taking note, with it now becoming increasingly common to find vegetarian or plant-based weighted menus at events. Sarah Thackray champions plant based menus at BeaconHouse Events and notes the impact that a 'vegetarian by default' can have... 🥦 📍 Event Sustainability Live 📽️ First Sight Media

This is what your impact reporting stats could look like and it's easier than you may think... In 2024 Chorus Arts saw these figures, amongst other brilliant reductions, after measuring their 'The Dalmore Presents…' event through TRACE, isla's Carbon Measurement Platform. Through using TRACE, the Chorus Arts team were able to track their impact, make better choices and cut their carbon footprint. And this is just the beginning, as each project iteration will now build upon a foundation of continuous improvement - ensuring that Chorus continues to work towards achieving their sustainability goals.
