It's all to common for people to say they love their job, however, I really do! It is fantastic to be working with teams who care and make an impact on people to help change their lives. Anyway, that's enough of that, we have had an amazing week here at West Lancashire College: 🌟This week has been truly eventful: 🌟 🎉 On Saturday, we hosted our very first #Community Fun Day, welcoming over 200 community members for a day filled with fun activities. A huge thank you to all the companies that contributed to making it a success and a specialthanks to Guy Walker and Dovetail & Slate | B Corp™! 💡 Monday & Tuesday brought the dynamic Loud Speaker team to campus, where they ran motivational sessions for our new and returning students. The energy was unbelievable! A big shout-out to Calvin Eden and the team for encouraging our students to voice their concerns and empowering them. We can’t wait to have you back! 🎓 Congratulations to Dawn Hughes, our Careers and Learner Experience Manager, for achieving her Level 6 in Career Guidance! We’re incredibly proud of her accomplishment. 🏅 Well done to our Level 3 Bricklaying students, who played a part in revamping Fairhaven Park in collaboration with West Lancashire Borough Council, VIY, Danny Hawkins, and Matt Mellor. 📚 On Monday evening, we welcomed the Parents and Carers of our 16-18-year-old students for an Information Evening. It was a great opportunity for them to meet our curriculum staff and learn about the support we offer, from financial aid to career planning. 🔧 Wednesday saw a visit from Halfords, with a representative sharing career opportunities and tool insights with our Level 1 Motor Vehicle and Engineering students. They even received Advanced Trade Cards for future discounts – thank you, Halfords! 🎓 Our team was also out and about this week! Lauren attended the St Edmund Arrowsmith School and then onto Dean Trust Wigan Careers Fair to talk about our exciting courses for school leavers. 🤝 Myself and Dawn had a productive meeting with the leadership team at Our Lady Queen of Peace School to discuss supporting the transition of their pupils into college with Rachael Downing. Excited for what’s ahead! 🌍 On Thursday, we met with wei nan from the #Confucius #Institute Headquarters to explore ways to further embrace and promote cultural diversity across campus – stay tuned for exciting initiatives! There was also an exciting conversation with Alan Walsh on how we can collaborate. 🤝 We ended the week with a fantastic visit from Nicola Gleave, a great friend of WLC. We had great discussions about #social #value, #place-making, and #partnership #development. Looking forward to next steps! We have also had in today NHS and Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in supporting our T Levels Health Students. #CommunitySuccess #Motivation #StudentSupport #CareerDevelopment #CulturalDiversity #Partnerships #WestLancashireCollege #WLC #Education #SocialImpact

We're only a couple of weeks into the new academic year and already we've had the pleasure of hosting Loud Speaker at Carlisle College, Lewisham College, West Lancashire College and Newcastle Sixth Form College. Hundreds of our students so far have benefitted from the incredible, interactive, high-energy workshops focused around public speaking and building self-confidence. Over the next few weeks, we'll be welcoming the Loud Speaker team to Southwark College, Kidderminster College and Newcastle College where they'll continue their mission to create a world where young people have the confidence and tools to speak out and speak well.

✨A Week of Inspiration, Collaboration, and Growth at West Lancs College!✨ What a fantastic week it’s been here at West Lancashire College! As we continue to settle into the new academic year, we’ve had a whirlwind of activities that have inspired our students, connected with our community, and laid the groundwork for exciting future opportunities. Highlights of the week: 🚗 Our Motor Vehicle students welcomed industry experts from Halfords for an insightful talk on careers and skills in the automotive industry. 👨👩👧👦 We held a successful Parent Welcome Evening for new students, giving families a chance to connect with the college and learn more about what’s in store this year. 🎤 Inspirational talks from Loud Speaker motivated our students, leaving a lasting impression as always! 🛠️ Several students gained hands-on experience by renovating areas in the local community as part of their work experience with VIY and West Lancashire Borough Council 🌏 We met with Nancy from the Confucius Institute Headquarters to explore more ways to embrace and promote cultural diversity across our campus with lots of exciting plans coming to fruition in the near future. With such a positive and eventful start to the year, what are you most looking forward to as this year?
