We’re pleased to share that we have made significant progress following last year’s Local Government Association Corporate Peer Challenge. A team of professionals from councils across the country visited in March 2024 to assess our performance, recognising our strong start since our launch in 2021 and identifying areas for improvement. Their recent return visit in November highlighted the tangible progress we’ve made and commended our renewed optimism and confidence. Key Achievements Noted in the Report: ⭐ Launched One West Northamptonshire vison, energising partners and communities ⭐The launch of a new, accessible website improving customer experience ⭐Improved customer support, with the creation of a single Revenues and Benefits Service ⭐National recognition through initiatives like the Female Founders Summit and Small Business Saturday We know there’s still work to do, and we remain committed to building on this momentum to create a thriving West Northamptonshire. From first hand accounts of the Great Fire of Northampton, to the signatures Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, the Northamptonshire Archives Service conserves and safeguards the county's most important historic records. It houses books, diaries, maps plans and photographs on an incredible eight miles of shelving - charting the rich history of the county from the 12th Century through to modern times. Congratulations to the service on receiving the Archive Service Accreditation. This national accolade recognises their commitment to preserving, conserving and making the documentary archives accessible to the public.

Today we joined communities across the nation to observe Holocaust Memorial Day, marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia. Our commemoration in #Northampton featured a diverse range of reflections, performances, and tributes. Residents are encouraged to participate in the national #LightTheDarkness moment at 8pm by lighting candles and placing them in windows. This symbolic act promotes unity, remembrance, and a stand against prejudice. #HolocaustMemorialDay, #HMD2023

We're thrilled two of Northampton's regeneration projects have been shortlisted for three awards at The Developer and Festival of Place #Pineapples 🏆 🏆 Our work with partners Deetu and Studio Egret West on the Greyfriars masterplan to create a new neighbourhood offering homes, public areas and cultural, community, and commercial spaces has been shortlisted for both the Community Engagement and Future Place awards 🏆 The sympathetic transformation of 24 Guildhall Road into a new cultural hub at the heart of Northampton’s cultural quarter is in the running for the Creative Retrofit award. The #Pineapples celebrate excellence in placemaking and urban regeneration, so we’re really proud these projects have been recognised. Thank you to all of the partners involved in shaping a brighter future for #Northampton #ThePineapples #placemaking #placemakingawards #urbandesign

A big thank you to Towcester Evening WI, who provided a lovely splash of colour to Sponne Shopping Centre with this new planter. Provided by ASH Chartered Surveyors and other businesses in the Centre, it has been filled with winter plants by dedicated WI volunteers, with support from our Town Centre Manager for Towcester, and the site caretaker. WI volunteers will continue to maintain this planter and a second one in the centre, refreshing the plantings twice a year.
