We are proud to announce our continued commitment to the transformative Mayfield development as we move forward with public consultation for the first homes on the site. This initiative represents a significant step in expanding the park by nearly 40%, adding 885 new residential units to Manchester city centre. Since our involvement began with the strategic regeneration framework (SRF) in 2018, followed by the successful delivery of Mayfield Park and planning submission for the multi-storey car park (MSCP), we are excited to be working as masterplanner and landscape architect, and to be collaborating with shedkm as joint plot architects across the phase. Our transdisciplinary approach enables us to integrate diverse elements of design to create cohesive, vibrant and high quality spaces that respond to community needs. The month-long consultation offers the Manchester community a chance to engage with Studio Egret West and shedkm, view detailed plans, and contribute their ideas for the community and commercial spaces. Public exhibitions will be held at Mayfield Park Arches and the St Thomas Centre, where feedback can help shape the final proposals before a planning application is submitted. As the first public park in Manchester city centre in over a century, Mayfield Park has already received accolades for its biodiversity, sustainability, and accessibility, including a Green Flag award in 2024. We are excited to further enhance this legacy through our ongoing work. #Mayfield #Manchester #Park #Residential #Public #Transdisciplinary #StudioEgretWest shedkm LandsecU+I Manchester City Council

Good luck to Urban Splash and Mikhail Riches for their RIBA #StirlingPrize shortlisting for the second phase of work at Park Hill. Amazing to look back on the success of the 50/50 collaboration of Studio Egret West and Hawkins\Brown, working with Urban Splash, Sheffield City Council and Grant Associates to craft the regenerative framework for Park Hill, including the detailed design of phase one which itself made the Stirling Prize shortlist in 2013. Our overarching approach sought to ameliorate nearly 40 years of neglect and misunderstanding, as well as reintegrate the building into its local context and community. Last year Park Hill was the winner of the Architecture Today “Buildings that Stand the Test of Time” Award, testimony to its resilience and its liveability. Our collaborative relationship with Hawkins\Brown has continued to flourish, most recently at Earls Court with the The Earls Court Development Company. In the meantime, a high five to Urban Splash for a double Stirling Prize shortlisting for leading the regeneration work spanning nearly two decades, and fingers crossed for the Phase 2 team at tonight’s RIBA Stirling Prize Ceremony. While we didn't win this year's BCO National Awards (and congratulations to those who did), we're proud to call our project, Plus X, Brighton, a model for user-focused workplace environments, putting people and entrepreneurship at the heart of a mixed-use neighbourhood. With Plus X at the centre of a wider regeneration project, Studio Egret West's scheme pioneers a novel approach that challenges the role of office buildings in our cities, proposing a future where workspace is a key ingredient in successful placemaking and becomes a catalyst for regeneration. Designed to be more than a typical office, the hub provides a unique, multi-layered workspace promoting circulation and collaboration, tailored to the needs of Brighton's creative and entrepreneurial businesses, and helping to cement the seaside city as a place for innovation. We are thrilled that Plus X, Brighton has been named one of three projects shortlisted for tonight's BCO National Awards in the Innovation category! 👏 The building is the centre piece in a major regeneration project aiming to transform this edge of city location while supporting Britain's new generation of entrepreneurs and inventors. Our 53,000 sq ft building in Brighton, UK, represents the first of a new national network of innovation hubs and a vibrant community. The project, designed by SEW and developed by LandsecU+I for Plus X Innovation Hubs, offers purpose-built collaborative workspaces featuring state-of-the-art facilities including digital studios and prototyping labs. Re-Defining Exurbia. Greybelts: The answer may lie in thinking big. The government’s release of greybelt land proposes a common-sense approach to edge of city planning by focusing housing delivery on areas that are previously developed. Can we use this logical starting point and stretch it a bit further? Written by Lucas Lawrence https://bit.ly/4epARsM

Wow, just wow! If you missed it last week, we are very happy to announce that our Hybrid Planning application for The Earls Court Development Company (ECDC) has been validated by London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The vision, masterplan and application for Earls Court has been led by a 50/50 collaboration of Studio Egret West and Hawkins\Brown as Principal Masterplan Architects. We have enjoyed a wonderful collaboration over the past 4 years. We have worked with WSP and Hoare Lea who led the engineering approach to this complex site with many interfaces. Studio Egret West also enjoyed collaborating with SLA on the multi layered approach to landscape architecture and public realm. In addition we have co-ordinated the work of many talented plot architects including ACME, dRMM, Haworth Tompkins, Maccreanor Lavington, Serie Architects and Sheppard Robson. We have taken a harmonising approach from the outset, weaving together the four “Place Pillars” of Nature, Innovation, Culture, and Neighbourhood, promises an inspiring new destination designed for all stages of life. The proposals include: - Circa 4,000 new homes including affordable housing across a range of tenures - A showcase for climate and clean innovation and skills with 2.9 million sq. ft. of flexible workspace contributing to around 12,000 jobs on site - A celebration of nature, with twenty acres of public open space and green space, people first streets and squares, over 1,000 new trees and a flower amphitheatre - Three new cultural and performance venues, providing an ecosystem for the future of creative talent, and up to 100 shops, cafes and restaurants - A new Community Hub, sports facilities, play spaces, up to two childcare facilities and spaces suitable for health, wellbeing and leisure uses What an amazing effort by so many, led by a committed client team who have put community engagement at the heart of the master planning process, to inform the evolution of the brief and the design proposals. Shout out to London Communications Agency, ZCD ARCHITECTS LTD and Kanda Consulting who led an examplar consultation process. Also a shout out to DP9 Limited who have steered a positive planning process and Cast Consultancy who have seamlessly orchestrated the project management. High five to all! https://bit.ly/Earlscourt

A fantastic few days over in #Leiden and #Rotterdam with Streetlife BV Truly inspiring places with lots of exciting projects! However, it was the celebrated relationship between people, water and nature that really stood out. 💦 🌳 🙋♀️ There were some great presentations and conversations between #landscapearchitects across the globe 🌏 that was an important reminder that we all face the same challenges, but all have our own unique approach to them in varying ways. We must focus on #nature and climate resilience but we can’t forget to have fun along the way and create memorable places!
