The West of England is ready to play a significant role in the UK’s journey to net zero! Today, we released the West of England Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plan (LIDP), which is available to read in full. 📖 The plan outlines practical steps that West of England businesses can take to reduce emissions and meet sustainability targets. 📝 We’ve spent the past year diligently researching and speaking to key decision makers across the region to build our LIDP and now it’s time to deliver. The West of England LIDP is not just a plan; it’s a platform for collaboration that will help you drive real, on-the-ground decarbonisation efforts. 🔎 Read the full plan and get in touch at: weic.co.uk #WestOfEngland #LIDP #NetZero #Sustainability #Decarbonisation
West of England Industrial Cluster
Services for Renewable Energy
Leading the way for the decarbonisation of industry in the West of England.
About us
The West of England Industrial Cluster (WoE IC) is creating a comprehensive strategy to decarbonise industry in the West of England. The cluster centres on a hub of major industrial activity around Portbury, Avonmouth, Severnside, and Port of Bristol. The ‘spokes’ of the hub span dispersed industrial emitters across neighbouring areas including Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset and together represent diverse industries including cement, chemicals, manufacturing, food production, waste, recycling and power. As well as developing a decarbonisation strategy, LIDP funding will allow WCIDP to identify and connect existing projects and initiatives, and unite public and private sector stakeholders ensuring the social, economic and environmental benefits of decarbonisation are fully realised. The West of England Industrial Cluster is a recipient of funding the Local Industrial Cluster Plan (LIDP) Competition, delivered by Innovate UK.

SevernNet is a social enterprise dedicated to serving the businesses, community, and stakeholders within the SevernNet Area which includes Royal Portbuty Dock, Avonmouth, Severnside, and Western Approach. Discussion and collaboration with local people in the region is core to SevernNet. They are often seen attending events like #SevernFest talking to locals about their priorities and the benefits of our Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plan (LIDP). Ensuring local views are reflected in our plan is vital. We can't advance industrial decarbonisation without consulting and considering the opinions of people who it will affect the most. We will continue to collaborate with locals to ensure the industrial cluster is deployed most effectively, for all stakeholders. 7CO2 has just signed an MOU with a number of regional emitters, The Bristol Port Company, ECOLOG and the The Acorn Project CO2 store to further develop the technical and commercial details of Non Pipeline Transport of CO2 from the hub on to geological storage. The details are in the attached announcement. The agreement allows the parties to work jointly and share information, with a collective ambition to deliver Non Pipeline Transport projects, with the first wave able to deliver CO2 by 2030 if NPT is included in the next round of CCS projects. We anticipate our MOU might grow as we are joined by more companies across the UK who want to accelerate the ability of regional emitters to access CCS stores through Non Pipeline Transport. The Bristol Port Company is excited to confirm its plans for the development of the Bristol Wind Terminal (BWT) at Avonmouth Docks, Bristol. BWT will provide essential new port infrastructure to assist the production, marshalling, integration and deployment of floating offshore wind turbine units destined for the Celtic Sea, in support of The Crown Estate's Offshore Wind Leasing Round 5. The new deep-water terminal, which will include a new quay wall, slipway and an extended breakwater, will provide excellent job opportunities and growth prospects for the region. Exciting times ahead for the West of England! 🚚 A new study by Hydrogen South West - Accelerate the change, unveils a groundbreaking vision: by 2030, 7,000 commercial vehicles could be cruising our roads powered by hydrogen! 🔋Key refuelling hubs in our local area are set to make this vision a reality. #Hydrogen #Revolution #SustainableTransport #Innovation #CommercialVehicles
A new study commissioned by Hydrogen South West reveals that by 2030, we could see 7,000 commercial vehicles powered by hydrogen. With potential demand reaching up to 10% of all commercial vehicles, a network of refuelling stations has been identified, with key locations in Bristol, Bridgewater, Exeter, Plymouth, and South West Cornwall. The research was undertaken by multi-disciplinary professional services consulting firm WSP. Today, at our Quarterly Members Meeting, Andy Clarke, Stuart Cory and Giles Perkins celebrated the launch of this report alongside all our members!
