#CaseStudy ~ SterlingOSB Zero is key in modular green build on Isle of Skye. "𝘞𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵." Sàmhach, a business creating sustainable modern cabins on the Isle of Skye is utilising SterlingOSB Zero as a key component for the assembly of their cabins' individual wall and floor units. The cabins are constructed using the WikiHouse system - a modular system for creating beautiful, high-performance, zero-carbon buildings and the SterlingOSB Zero modules are supplied in kit form by CNC joinery business, Geo Ply. We caught up with the team involved to find out more about this exciting project: https://lnkd.in/exGJ6_xV. #modularconstruction #sustainablebuildings

  • Are you a community group wondering about using #WikiHouse for your project? Check out how Little Hulton in Salford used WikiHouse to build the Peel Park Pavilion. Thanks Architecture Unknown Ltd for sharing! ⬇️

We've been leading on an amazing project that has been in production for over 5 years... Wanna see what's gone into it? It's a massive step forward for us but especially in our use of #community #sweatequity to build an very #ambitious #WikiHouse. I'm thrilled to see the final building emerge now but want to take you back to why it's important... Little Hulton is one of the most #deprived areas of #Salford. We've been working with the amazing Community Little Hulton charity to give kids a place to be kids but also give them the chance to construct a building for themselves. Over 3 weeks we have over 200 volunteers. These children might never get this chance again but as you can see its opened their eyes to the possibilities of construction and is so valuable to their development as young people. When we talk about creating opportunities through architecture, what could be more #important? Thanks to Ashley Povall Ⓥ for the amazing videos, which we will continue posting snippets of over the coming few weeks. Alison JONES, Daniel Kelso, Ian Grindey, David Higginson, Charlie Butterwick,

A few snap shots of the progress of Sàmhach over the weekend. My head is still fried but very much grateful for all the help we’ve had so far. Final push on Saturday and the structure will be finished.

About a year ago, our studio became part of an international community that develops innovative systems for eco-prefabricated houses > WikiHouse. We are working on adapting this system to local climate conditions and regulations, and the pictures show our first test of a butterfly joint. We have an exciting time ahead of us! In the coming months, we plan to build prototypes, the first pilot structure and we are also developing the design of houses for tourism that will soon be available on the market. We are grateful to the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro (Ministarstvo kulture i medija), which supported this project through the Creative Industries program, as well as to Inovaciono preduzetnički centar Tehnopolis/Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis for its assistance in conducting the first tests.

Step inside our cabinet of curiosities! 🏗️🖼️🌈 Inspired by Renaissance 'Wunderkammer' but with a modern, architectural twist, The Gantry at HERE EAST is one of our favourite projects at Hawkins\Brown. 21 unique artist studios nestle in the ultra-rational grid structure of the former Olympic Broadcast Centre, creating an eclectic community of creativity. Designed in collaboration with WikiHouse and ARCHITECTURE 00, The Gantry is a great example of how we can use modern methods of construction to revitalise existing industrial space for use by a new generation of artists and creatives. • One of the big innovations of WikiHouse is that it is not tied to a single company, so that makes it quite unusual in the world of industrialised building. We're not trying to make one company, we're trying to make a hundred companies. A thousand companies. We're trying to build capability, and allow small businesses, collectively, to become a powerful force for building better in the world. Alastair talks about our learnings over the last year and plans to enable more businesses to deliver WikiHouses. Our latest community event was yesterday and we also showed some of the upcoming updates to Skylark.
