By developing their Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural calendar, weekly challenges have been set to encourage young people to recognise and value each other’s unique strengths. One of the team challenges resulted in pupils creating food animals. ✈ Pupils from our Queensmead House School recently embarked on an exciting adventure, exploring British Airways and the various parts of airport operations. The trip began with a Terminal 5 tour at Heathrow Airport, where they went behind the scenes, exploring the check-in systems, executive lounges and cabin crew preparation areas. They followed this with a visit to British Airways' Waterside offices, where pupils participated in a safety demonstration, just like the ones delivered by flight attendants before take-off. 🎉 Our Lakeside School recently celebrated its fifth consecutive Outstanding Ofsted judgement with a special visit from the local MP for Liverpool Garston, the Rt Hon Maria Eagle (Minister for Defence). Maria engaged in Q&A sessions, where pupils asked insightful questions about her inspiration for entering politics, ways to promote music and art in schools, litter picking, and citizenship. They even managed to get an exclusive scoop, asking if she would consider becoming Prime Minister. Her answer? An enthusiastic yes! Maria also shared stories from her impressive 28-year career as a constituency MP and her roles in various government ministries. She also toured the school, visiting pupils and the team in the newly refurbished primary building. Last month, pupils and the team from our Greenholm School celebrated Black History Month, centred around the theme, ‘Reclaiming Narratives.’ There were thoughtful conversations around negative stereotypes, debunking of common stereotypes, and uncovering of hidden histories of the pre-slave trade in Africa. The learning journey continued with a virtual reality experience, where the historians explored Rosa Parks’ impact and experienced pivotal moments of the Civil Rights Movement, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous speech. If that wasn’t impressive enough, they also attended a Black History Art Exhibition in Wandsworth.
