Good turnout for the Sawmiller and Processors Community of Practice meeting at Longwood Community Woodland this morning. Topics discussed include the Welsh Government Timber Industrial Strategy consultation, and the timber supply to small mills Small scale sawmillers meet every 4-6 weeks to discuss issues around log supply and demand, species selection, kiln drying, business models and technical support. Current activities revolve around building a cooperative buying group to source quality timber from the national and private estates. Policy update: Government commits to Timber in Construction Roadmap The UK Government has launched the Timber in Construction Roadmap 2025, aiming to increase homegrown timber supply to strengthen the economy, support housebuilding, and cut carbon emissions.
