Driving Sustainability Forward: A Day of Innovation and Partnership at Doncaster Warehouse It was an extraordinary day at our Doncaster warehouse as we welcomed clients from Ball Corporation and CAWINGREDIENTS (EBT) LIMITED to discuss a topic that is at the forefront of our industry: SUSTAINABILITY. The focus was on the significant strides we've made in reducing our carbon footprint, specifically through the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) in our fleet. Over the past 19 weeks, this initiative has led to a remarkable 90.44% reduction in carbon emissions, effectively removing over 400 tonnes of carbon from the supply chain. This achievement is a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared commitment to environmental stewardship. The highlight of the day was the presence of a 100% electric Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) supplied by Daimler Truck AG. Our guests had the unique opportunity to test drive these eHGVs, gaining firsthand experience of the future of sustainable transportation. The excitement was palpable as they took the wheel, feeling the smooth and silent operation of these innovative trucks. This event underscored the importance of joint investments in sustainability. Working closely with suppliers and customers who understand the value of true partnership leads to mutual benefits that ripple throughout the supply chain. It's not just about making a positive impact on the environment; it's about creating a sustainable business model that fosters long-term growth and success. Today is Climate Emergency Day, marking a globally established 4 year countdown to dramatically reduce fossil fuel emissions to stay below 1.5C degrees warming. The climate clock is ticking and reaffirming the need for a rapid transition away from fossil fuels. As part of Woodland Group’s commitment to net-zero, numerous improvements have been made in an effort to achieve this: - Significant steps towards encouraging the use of alternative fuel through implementing HVO into our fleet, offering 90% emissions reductions. - E-HGV trials underway at our Doncaster site. - Installation of our largest solar panels to date, contributing to the pre-existing 526 solar panels across 4 of our facilities. - Drastic increase in volume of waste recycled, resulting in Woodland’s global waste to landfill decreasing from 64% to 37%. Really pleased to share that the Woodland Group 5-a-side team were crowned champions of the GB Railfreight charity football tournament on Saturday 13th July 🏆 After four group stage matches, we advanced to the quarter-finals where we beat OOCL 2-0. In the semi-finals, we faced Stobarts and also won 4-0 which led us to the final showdown against Macintyre Transport. We secured another 4-0 victory in the final to lift the trophy. Team Members: Frankie Venton Freddie Burns Rory Burns Shay O'Brien Jamal Essalama Callum Millar Oliver Girling Bradley Hughes Special mention to Freddie Burns who was named the Player of the Tournament for his acrobatics inbetween the sticks.
