“It’s time to turn rhetoric into action. It’s time to adapt.” These words from our Director-General Vanina Laurent-Ledru come on the eve of the 79th UN General Assembly, where, just one week from now, we will have the honour of convening experts on the subject of climate change. On Wednesday 25th September, we will come together with partners Foreign Policy and the Africa-Europe Foundation at our event ‘Risk to Resilience: Unlocking Climate Financing for Local Health Adaptation’. As a group of international academics, scientists, policymakers, agenda setters and community advocates, we have a common goal: to address barriers hindering the flow of climate and health financing to local communities and propose actionable solutions to ensure that funding reaches those most in need. These conversations have never been more important. #UNGA79 #TimeToAdapt #ClimateChange

Foundation S are proud to announce our latest entry to Gold September, raising awareness of the impact of childhood cancers and honouring the courage of children affected. International Society of Paediatric Oncology - SIOP have successfully launched a third publication mapping childhood cancer capacities, this time focusing in Latin America. Part of our #MyChildMatters program, the global mapping led by SIOP is dedicated to creating a comprehensive baseline of pediatric oncology resources available in each country, guiding advocacy and improving care for children with cancer worldwide. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date information on every hospital treating children and adolescents with cancer enables us to support patient referrals, research outreach, and fosters collaboration between institutions. My Child Matters has helped to support 150,000 children with cancer and train 50,000 healthcare professionals in 88 countries since 2005. This latest publication provides a detailed overview of the current state of pediatric oncology across Latin America, highlighting the distribution and capabilities of over 300 centers in 20 countries. Using powerful data and its findings can have a profound impact on our world, and together with our partners, we are making a significant impact in the fight against childhood cancer. #MyChildMatters #GoldSeptember #TogetherWeCanDoMore

Exciting News in the Fight Against Sleeping Sickness! We are thrilled to share that, following recent EMA's positive opinion for first oral treatment for sleeping sickness rhodesiense patients, the WHO has just updated its guidelines accordingly. The World Health Organization (WHO) has now designated Sanofi / Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative - DNDi‘s oral treatment as the first-choice treatment for this acute form of sleeping sickness disease. This marks a significant advancement for patients, having so far only very limited therapeutic options and requiring hospital administration under strict supervision. This radical change is especially impactful for vulnerable communities suffering from this disease. With its DNDi and WHO partners, Foundation S is fully committed to ensure Access to an effective and simple oral pill which is life-changing for these patients. https://lnkd.in/e4b_cxBv
