WT are pleased to share that Director, Kirby Ellis has been appointed as Principal Designer CDM and Client CDM Assist on an exciting redevelopment of Moor Grange, a historically significant building. Working alongside Developers, Pickard Properties and Contractor, C&AJ Marshall Builders Ltd, Moor Grange will be carefully converted into eight self-contained apartments. Located in the heart of the Far Headingley Conservation Area the team is committed to delivering a project that not only creates beautiful, modern apartments but preserves the historic features of this iconic building that is a key to the heritage of the area. Moor Grange is a Victorian villa dating back to the 19th Century. It has been home to a number of prominent figures over the years, notably Professor Arthur Mayo-Robson the former Professor of Surgery at the Yorkshire College, which later became University of Leeds. The surrounding area of Spinning Acres has recently undergone regeneration, creating a community and home that people can be proud of. The Moor Grange scheme will further add to the area, allowing the site to reclaim its place as part of this thriving neighbourhood. The project team tasked with sensitively modernising this important piece of Leeds’ heritage are Architect, HALLIDAY CLARK ARCHITECTS, Structural Engineers, CODA STRUCTURES LIMITED, M&E Consultant, Power Group Services Ltd, and Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultants, Fox Lloyd Jones. We look forward to seeing the outcome of this impressive scheme which will undoubtedly bring benefit to the area and contribute to the rich tapestry of this building’s historical significance. #MoorGrange #RestorationProject #FarHeadingleyConservationArea #WTLeeds #WTPrincipalDesigner

WT are delighted to welcome Kirby Ellis, Director, Head of Corporate Health & Safety. Kirby will also be leading the CDM Principal Designer team covering our WT offices in the North of England and the Midlands. “For those who haven't met me yet, I'm a gruff Northerner who has been treading the Health and Safety trail for thirty years and counting. Initially learning how to ruin tea as an office junior for Tweeds (ask David Clayton), my career has spanned several large and small practices, including my own, undertaking typically Health & Safety services with a light smattering of quantity surveying, building surveying, employer’s agent, project management. Despite a vehement Health and Safety streak in my professional life my number one favourite pastime is throwing myself down a mountain bike trail on the weekends. Of course I aim not to fall off although a few scars and a broken collar bone say otherwise." Kirby has already initiated a full initial review of WT’s Health and Safety policies and procedures and is interested in the thoughts and insights staff bring, always looking to improve our company’s Health and Safety culture. #MeetTheTeam #CorporateHealthandSafety #WTLeeds #WTUKandEurope

Thank you Nick Coke for speaking at the 2024 Education Estates® Exhibition | Conference | Awards and for sharing your insights. #Education #Quality #2024EducationEstates #EducationLead #WTPartnership
Public Sector focussed project manager. Director in charge of Healthcare Project Management team in London.
Education Estates and the finance gap It was a great pleasure attend the 2024 Education Estates event and a privilege to be able to speak about how to deliver better quality with my fellow panellists Jo Marchant MBE, MA, MBA, FISBL, Simon Innes; Chris Newton and Niamh Evans. I met up with some great people, attended excellent talks with some exciting ideas and discovered some brilliant new products available in the market. Throughout it all though I had to resist the overwhelming compulsion to stand up and, channelling my inner Jerry Maguire yell "Show me the money". It was the sub-text to everything but no-one knew, or if they did know they weren't telling, how much money was going to be made available and where it was coming from. There is a lot to do in educations to catch-up on backlog maintenance, to satisfy the push to carbon zero and to build great education spaces but it will need a lot of money to come to fruition. Of course this situation isn't unique to education with healthcare and local authorities also in need of significant funding. However, if I gleaned anything from this event, it is that we know what the scale of the problem is; the benefits are clear and we have the skills, experience and drive to fix it. Over to you Rt Hon Rachel Reeves... My thanks to the brilliant team at Education Estates® Exhibition | Conference | Awards for organising such a worthwhile event and I look forward to next year. #education, #quality,

On 3rd October the WT London and Croydon offices met up for a social Team Building experience to enhance collaboration and strengthen team bonds. Split into teams of four, participants competed in the famous UK TV, BAFTA award-winning, “THE CUBE”. Together, the teams completed puzzles and challenges that required abstract thinking, creative problem solving, critical reasoning, and determination, allowing them to draw on and hone skills that are used day-to-day in the technical delivery of their projects. The atmosphere was supportive, fun and light-hearted but intensely focused. As members of London and Croydon teams often work on-site, or dispersed across the city, our WT team events are instrumental in facilitating meaningful connections and enhancing teamwork. Thank you to Harrison P. for arranging the event and to Timothy Coombes for ordering our food and drinks all night! #THECUBE #TeamBuilding #WTLondon #WTCroydon #OurPeopleAreOurStrength #WTPartnership
