We're extremely proud to be trailblazers in our support for the Dementia Ready Task Force. With the number of people living with dementia in the UK projected to double to two million by 2050, we're committed to meeting people's changing needs when adapting our existing homes and building new ones. That's because we want to help our customers stay independent in their homes and communities for as long as possible.
This #WorldAlzheimersDay, we’re challenging the stigma around all forms of dementia. Dementia can be devastating but the home environment can play a huge part in bringing a better quality of life to people living with it, and helping their carers too. Our Dementia Ready Task Force is working to highlight the need for dementia ready housing and services across our region. As part of this, it has developed guidance on how to make our homes safer, happier and more accessible for people living with dementia. If you have a friend or family member living with dementia, read our guidance to learn about some small alterations you could make to help them. https://ow.ly/fKHE50TrBE0 #DementiaReady #WestYorkshire

Long-term funding certainty is needed for housing associations to build the affordable homes #WestYorkshire so desperately needs, and to tackle the housing crisis. We will continue to make the case for this and welcome the news that the government is reportedly planning to provide long-term rent stability as part of the Autumn Budget. #AutumnBudget #SocialHousing #UKHousing https://lnkd.in/eQ459haD

We are appalled and saddened by the recent acts of violence, racism, and Islamophobia in towns and cities across the UK. West Yorkshire is a place that has many diverse communities and welcomes people from many different backgrounds. As a Partnership we send a message of support and solidarity to those affected by the violence who now may feel unsafe in their communities. As housing organisations, we have a crucial role in fostering safe and inclusive communities. The violence we have witnessed does not reflect the values we hold, and these actions have no place in our communities. The West Yorkshire Housing Partnership takes a zero-tolerance approach towards racism and violence of any kind. We will continue to work closely together with Local Authorities, the Police and other partners to ensure the safety of our customers and colleagues during this difficult time.

We heard you all like drone shots? 📸 Here's some snaps showing great progress at our Armley development where we're building 50 new homes with Termrim Construction Ltd. The site is the former Tower Works factory which is being transformed into 100% affordable housing, with support coming from Leeds City Council and Homes England 🤝 All homes will be made available for affordable or social rent - and we're aiming to start handovers at the beginning of 2025.

Affordable and social housing is vital to protect low-income households, and we’re pleased this has been recognised by the new government 🏠 The #HousingCrisis has the biggest impact on the most vulnerable in society, with spiralling rents and house prices forcing thousands of families in #WestYorkshire onto lengthy housing waiting lists and into food banks. The changes announced by the Secretary of State today will help housing associations build more affordable homes 📈 However, it’s vital the government works closely with housing associations and understands our long-term funding needs to make this happen.
We are in a housing crisis. That’s why we’re announcing part of our plan to get Britain building again. For too long, housebuilding has been too slow: increasing competition for a limited supply, driving up rents and leaving people unsure and discouraged about when they might finally have a place to call home. Our changes to the National Planning Policy Framework will mean working in partnership with local councils and streamlining the planning process, making it easier to build faster and build better, giving people the homes they need where they need them.
