We empower young people to break through the barriers they face and build a future on their terms.

About us

We empower young people to break through the barriers they face and build a future on their terms. For 28 years, we’ve helped thousands in the most deprived boroughs in London beat their background. The young people we work with often struggle with issues like family breakdown, unemployment, educational failure, and live in areas that experience high levels of anti-social behaviour and gang violence. It’s a reality that batters potential, limits support and forces every inner-city future into a predictable statistic. That’s why at XLP, we keep young people in school and out of gangs. We build positive, long-term relationships to restore a trust in people. We nurture the belief that things can change, despite their postcode. We encourage them to set positive goals and work hard to achieve them. At XLP, our mission is to change that script and help young people build the future they want, not the one written for them.

What an honour it was to deliver trauma informed training to a group of inspirational individuals. Thank you to XLP for trusting me to facilitate such an important yet sensitive topic and theme that is so necessary. To all the practitioners in the room, I commend you for engaging with the content and for being prepared to dig deep in your own respective ways. To Luke Watson (CEO) and Jerome Hughes (Head of Youth Work), I appreciate your kind and affirming words during the sessions intro and outro. Lastly, this work is not for the faint-hearted, and you guys at XLP are having a positive and massive impact on the children in our village! I see you! Thrilled to be part of this year's GPE Community Day! 🙌 A hugely powerful reminder of the difference we can achieve when we come together. We had a career workshop for young people, a team come and repaint our youth centre, team supporting our mobile youth centre projects, and a charity football tournament with 14 teams!! Together we’re building stronger, more supportive communities for the future. Huge thanks to Toby Courtauld, Niki P., Kate Green, Daniel Shillingford, Tim Sledge, Janine Cole, Steph Gates, Anthony Osho and everyone else who came together to make the end of this week so special.

This week we celebrated our annual Community Day across London 🤲   We partnered with five amazing charities to make a meaningful impact, working with XLP, National Energy Action (NEA), Bankside Open Spaces Trust, Coram's Fields, and Brixton Soup Kitchen. We were divided across multiple sites taking part in different activities including leading career workshops for young people, running a football tournament, renovating and cleaning community spaces, gardening, packing support packages, and cooking in the soup kitchen.   It was a fulfilling day that offered many opportunities to learn from our partner charities and support London communities. A huge thank you to our incredible team and the remarkable charities that made this day a success! If you'd like to help us support the great work these charities do, links to their fundraising websites are in the comments below. #GPE #London #Community #EveryLondonStory

We've been standing with young people across London since 1996. Through all the highs and the struggles our passion hasn’t shaken, but now our look is evolving. It's time for something that speaks to the moment we’re in. That's why we're excited to reveal our new branding - a big declaration of who we are and who we’re here for. Too many young people are stuck in cycles that threaten their potential. But at XLP, we see beyond the labels. We see fire. We see strength. We see courage. We see the potential that others miss. We want XLP to catch eyes and turn the heads, drawing even more attention to the incredible work this team is doing every single day. Our friends at Creature London have helped us create this new look as we make this year another one where we show what’s truly possible in youth work. We’ll keep lighting up futures and standing with every young person who needs us. Come with us!

🎙 XLP on BBC Radio London 🎙 On Tuesday, we had the incredible opportunity to speak live on BBC Radio London, discussing the urgent issue of zombie knives and the impact they have on young people in our communities. At XLP, we are committed to empowering young people and addressing the root causes of youth violence through meaningful engagement and support. A huge thank you to Alice Dale and the team at BBC Radio London for giving us a platform to share the vital work we're doing to make a difference. 👂 Listen to Tom Pickering's full interview with Shay Kaur Grewal: https://lnkd.in/e2xgkWQm [start at 2:18:35] #YouthWork #KnifeCrime #EmpoweringYoungPeople #BBC #London

When the going gets tough, the tough go abseiling at 400ft!🔥   Big shoutout to the team of ten at Tysers who abseiled down the iconic Lloyd's Building in the heart of the City of London to support our mission at XLP! 🏢💪 And a massive thank you to Lloyd's for allowing Tysers to take part in this fantastic fundraising event.   One Tysers’ employee has a huge fear of heights. And while he could have chosen to stay firmly on the ground, he chose to push through his fear, just like the young people XLP supports who push through their challenges every day. Life can be tough, but with determination (and a bit of adrenaline), nothing’s impossible! 🙌   All funds raised will go towards creating brighter futures for young people who deserve to be seen and heard. https://lnkd.in/e3uWycTV
