The recent The Guardian article by Patrick Greenfield has sparked a surprising amount of negativity, which I don’t agree with. 🎯 In fact, I believe Patrick Greenfield’s article is spot on—he nailed it. Nature is a living, breathing, and dynamic ecosystem, continuously adjusting due to anthropogenic stresses and various other factors. Activity-based models that fail to account for this complexity do not accurately reflect the true dynamics of natural systems. To ensure climate models—particularly in the context of carbon markets—are reliable, it is essential to implement continuous, real-time atmospheric monitoring of greenhouse gas fluxes on both local and regional scales. This article emphasizes the critical need for more comprehensive monitoring of our natural systems. Achieving this on a meaningful scale will require collaboration across both public and private sector institutions. At HYPHEN GLOBAL AG, we are advocating for the adoption of real-time atmospheric measurement and quantification of greenhouse gases within natural systems. By leveraging these atmospheric-based techniques, we aim to enhance the accuracy and integrity of carbon markets, ultimately contributing to the protection of our natural world.
