This black kitten was finally dealt some good luck after being rescued by our team on the road network. Once they heard reports of a kitten sitting in the middle of an emergency refuge area bay, Qamar, Alan and Rachel spent three hours saving this curious customer. Luckily, the bay was yellow making him easier to spot. He's now called Hades and after some TLC at the vets, was adopted by Rachel, a member of the rescue squad!

Our road network is vital for national prosperity, but it also impacts the environment, particularly noise pollution for nearby residents. This National Customer Service Week, I'm proud of my team’s efforts to reduce these impacts. Through insulation schemes and noise barriers, we’ve improved conditions for thousands of households this past year. Looking ahead, we’re tackling water quality, a priority identified by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. We’re committed to enhancing treatment and management across our network to reduce road runoff and protect waterways, ultimately benefiting our local communities. #NCSW2024 #CustomerFirst #MakingADifference #EnvironmentalProtection #Sustainability #EnvironmentalStewardship

📣 Thank you for your engagement over the past two months, as we have been sharing the National Highways Digital Lab’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and digital road network. 🤝 The transport accessibility gap means that some people are marginalised or disadvantaged due to reduced transport options or inadequate infrastructure. It’s time to partner up and give all customers the same access to independence, control and confidence. 📅 Let’s drive the conversation forward at Highways UK. You can find us at the National Highways stand from 16 to 17 October 2024, where we would love to explore your ideas in making everyone feel safe and in control of their journeys. 🔗 Read our Highways UK blog post and get your free ticket below: ▶️ https://lnkd.in/ezJmWDhw ▶️ https://lnkd.in/ezfrt4vb #HighwaysUK #NavigatingNeurodiversity #DrivingInclusivity

This National Customer Service Week, I’m proud to reflect on our health, safety, and wellbeing team's vital work at National Highways. Their efforts ensure we make the right safety decisions, enhancing the experience for road users. A highlight this year has been the rollout of our Be the Change programme, fostering conversations about safety, both mental and physical, that enable us to provide top-notch service year-round. By prioritising health and wellbeing, we’re committing to improving decision-making and ensuring safer outcomes for our customers, while empowering our team to be their best selves every day. #NCSW2024 #CustomerFirst #MakingADifference #SafetyFirst #WellbeingAtWork

It's only a week until Highways UK, the largest roads sector exhibition in the country. As in previous years, we will be there and we can't wait to see you. Visitors can hear from our senior leaders, find out more about some of our safety initiatives, our environmental work and much more. The event is free to attend, so if you haven't got your ticket yet, there's still time to book your spot. See you there! https://lnkd.in/ecRB7esA

I’m proud to celebrate the passion of our Historical Railway Estate team this National Customer Service Week. They manage over 3,000 structures across the UK, transforming their approach through engineering and partnerships focused on the benefits for our customers. Our mission remains clear: to positively impact our customers and preserve these historic assets for future generations, whether they walk, run, or fly like the bats that call them home. #NCSW2024 #CustomerFirst #MakingADifference #HeritageConservation #Sustainability #Engineering #Partnerships

Our procurement teams manage all our external spend, ensuring we work with the right partners. This year, a highlight is our Social Enterprise Dynamic Purchasing System (SEDPS), promoting buying from social enterprises. We’ve surpassed £2 million in spend, supporting organisations like RBLI (Royal British Legion Industries) and Nuneaton Signs. These partnerships help us connect the country and provide meaningful employment for veterans and people with disabilities. Looking ahead, we’re excited about delivering our largest procurement process ever – the second iteration of our Scheme Delivery Framework, enhancing our ability to deliver excellent customer service. #NCSW2024 #CustomerFirst #MakingADifference #Procurement #SocialEnterprise

Our customers are diverse and need solutions that work for them. That’s why our diverse workforce is dedicated to improving accessibility for all. One of the ways we are doing this is with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme. Displaying a Sunflower on your vehicle tells us that you have a non-visible disability, and may need additional support or assistance. #NCSW2024 Find out more and order a Sunflower here: https://lnkd.in/eGNemBdA
