French supermarket Carrefour to trial payment by… the palm of your hand 🖐🏼 The technology - developed by payment terminal specialist Ingenico - works by ‘palm biometrics’ and uses the veins in your hand to validate the payment. The technology is already used by retail giant Amazon in its Whole Foods Market shops in the US and is also used in China, usually via the brand Wechat Palm Pay. 🇪🇪 Estonia is another country taking steps towards a more sustainable future in retail and where the paper receipt is facing extinction. Currently, the law requires merchants to issue a receipt if the purchase amount exceeds €20. Under the proposed changes, this requirement would be eliminated.
