Spring Intern at UBS & AMEX | Co-Founder of Dumb Money | Vice President of Investment Society | Second Year at LIBF

The grind doesn't stop anytime soon but it's refreshing to know that recognition lies in the right places... 🙌🏼 Thrilled to announce that I've been awarded the Student Engagement Prize by LIBF, in recognition of my involvement and contributions to the wider community! All praise be to Allah (SWT) for allowing me to succeed in this field, for keeping me steadfast in my commitments and aspirations, and for providing me with countless blessings and chances to prove myself. 🤲🏼 A gratefully received surprise on a normally dreary weekday morning! It's been a pleasure to have been a student at LIBF for over a year now. And my first glimpse of what life as a LIBF student could be like happened for me at their Summer University, between Year 12 and Year 13. And what a moment this was! Having just started to scratch the surface of finance as a career path at the time, and then discovering a specialised university like LIBF, it was genuinely one of the best things to have happened to me on my continuing career journey. And now, fast forward to today, if you'd have told me a year ago that I'd have co-founded Dumb Money, become the Vice President of the LIBF Investment Society or secured two Spring Internships at UBS and American Express then I probably would have laughed in your face! But, now looking back, it's a testament to the encouraging culture and work environment that LIBF has and continues to deliver on, and I couldn't be more grateful for that. 🤝 A huge thanks to all of the staff at LIBF for being part of the university and for providing a helping hand along the way. Looking forward to continuing to learn from others as well as giving back to whoever I can as much as possible! 🚀

''Rejection is always redirection'' This was a consistent theme throughout the Mastering Apprenticeship Applications webinar today hosted by Young Asians in Finance. Of course, I believe this to be true, but I feel like this is easier said than done. Hearing how the panelists have navigated rejections themselves made me realise how vital resilience and self-reflection are in shaping our career journeys. The application process may seem daunting, but having confidence in yourself and your abilities is the key to success. One key takeaway for me was the importance of seeing rejection as feedback, not failure. Each ''no'' is an opportunity to identify where we can improve, whether it's refining your skills to just simply practising patience and having the belief in yourself. The panelists also highlighted the importance of practising authenticity. We often think we need to be someone we are not to fit the criteria of a ''perfect candidate''. Recruiters are looking for who you truly are, and so remember, your unique experiences, perspectives and skills are a strength, not a weakness. The path to success may be challenging, but I left the session with a renewed mindset: Rejection is not the end; it's just a pivot towards something better. Huge thanks to Young Asians in Finance for organising such a valuable session and the panelists Riyadh Rehman, Sahil Shahzad, Yashleen Gulati, Lee Lin, Ashwa Naz, Abid Ahmed. Your dedication to empowering disadvantaged individuals like myself has truly made a lasting impact, and I’m incredibly fortunate to have learned from you. I have included some slides which I found useful, and I hope other aspiring apprentices find it useful too! #FinanceCareers #Apprenticeship #GrowthMindset #YoungAsiansInFinance #Networking
