🌿 The Overgrowth Youth Rewilding Summit 🌿 We are excited to share that Sophy Jones, our Nature Fintech Developer, will be presenting at the Overgrowth Youth Rewilding Summit on Saturday, September 14th. Hosted by Youngwilders in collaboration with the Knepp Wildland Foundation, this event brings together young environmental stewards for a weekend of learning, inspiration, and action. Overgrowth takes place at the Knepp Wildland Estate in West Sussex—one of the world's most ambitious and successful rewilding projects. Since 2001, Knepp has transformed from intensive farming to a thriving haven for biodiversity, where species like turtle doves and nightingales are making a comeback. This summit will immerse participants in the beauty of rewilded landscapes with guided tours, hands-on workshops, and engaging talks. 🌏 Do you know young people who are interested in rewilding? ✏ Would they like to write for the journal for student geographers? Routes: The Journal For Student Geographers is teaming up with youth-led nature recovery organisation Youngwilders to organise a *special issue* of Routes on young people and rewilding. They are seeking submissions from high school (aged 16+), undergraduate, and Master's students. New blog post alert! 📢 Discover how Youngwilders, a youth-led nature recovery charity, grew from a hobby to a thriving organisation. Co-Founder & Co Director of Youngwilders, Jack Durrant, shows how support from EFN and related funders played a crucial role in their success. Mentoring, advice, and networking assistance accelerated Youngwilders' growth – revealing that funders' impact can go far beyond donations! The result of this support? Youngwilders have grown their team, engaged with over 500 young people, helped recover nearly 140 acres (up from 30!), planted 7,000 trees, run two youth rewilding festivals and now run 10 youth-led nature recovery projects. Core priorities include helping to coordinate young people nature education events, particularly Overgrowth at the Knepp estate, September 14-15th, as well as helping us develop ecological restoration plans and, though not compulsory, doing some in-person ecological work. It’s giving all-purpose. The role can also be partly shaped around the interests of the successful applicant. No specific prior experience or qualifications are required.
