Let's Give Ukrainian Children A Christmas This Year - 2024 Report A big 'thank you' to all those that donated gifts and got involved in the wrapathons that were held in Ipswich, Bedford, Swindon and Bath this year. We despatched 20,000 gifts to displaced children which were distributed mostly in towns and cities close to the front line. Attached is our report with details and photographs that I hope supporters will find interesting. Already we have 40 pallets of gifts for next year. We've known "Susan" (not her real name) and her family for over 20 years through business connections. She isn't a relative, nor does she work for Zappshelter. She and her husband will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary shortly with their two children and three grandchildren. Sadly, Susan has been crippled by excruciating hip pain. She has been on the NHS waiting list for a hip replacement over 4 years and, at the last appointment a few weeks ago, was told it would be at least another year. She isn't alone - there are currently 31,000 people waiting for hip replacements in the UK. Susan has worked for the NHS for 42 years. She's never shirked, never had a day off sick, and, when the pandemic struck, she didn't hesitate to volunteer to work on the wards, despite the risk to her own health. A truly unselfish person. The Zapp Foundation became aware of her plight and the impact it was having on her family. This week we stepped in and provided the funding for Susan to have a private hip replacement operation under a great surgeon at a top quality Edinburgh hospital. The world in which we live is a terrible place, with suffering on every hand. However, there are wonderful organisations and individuals dedicated to caring for others, often unseen, but offering hope and a future to many. At Zappshelter, we believe in helping those less fortunate than ourselves. After many years of supporting multiple charities and performing random acts of kindness, we decided to establish the Zapp Foundation - a vehicle for donating a substantial chunk of our profits to philanthropic causes every year, and for highlighting the excellent work of others. Kindness is like wildfire: once it gets going, it spreads rapidly, providing light, hope, warmth and comfort to those who need it most. Even the smallest act of compassion towards others can make a lasting impact. This isn't virtue-signalling or just a box-ticking exercise for our corporate social responsibility charter. No, it's a way to highlight the hitherto unseen work our founding family does for those in need. If just one other person sees our efforts and decides to do something themselves, the effects could be exponential.
