Preferred Qualifications / Certificates/Experience:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Structural Engineering/ Design/ Architecture/Sustainability/Geography/Environmental Studies or appropriate qualifications
  • Valid CSCS card
  • BREEAM AP
  • Previous work in the built environment
  • Previous construction site work experience



Sustainability Manager

Job Summary and purpose:

The Sustainability Manager is a pro-active generalist, able to cover all major issues of sustainability with all relevant stakeholders. This role is responsible for the delivery of a high priority project’s sustainability deliverables, improvement, verification, as well as leading on carbon emissions reduction reaching Net Zero Carbon, waste reduction and circular economy performance.


Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leading on sustainability performance reporting, improvement and verification through SmartWaste
  • Leading on carbon emissions reduction and the wider resource efficiency agenda
  • Assisting in the development of new strategy, policy and targets for the McLaren Construction
  • Supporting the business in the implementation and delivery of the Group Sustainability strategy, its ambitions and targets
  • Supporting sustainability input to business development& bids
  • Carrying out research and development, identifying opportunities, encouraging innovation and improvements in transferability to increase efficiency and work-winning
  • Influencing and networking, speaking and profile raising



Assistant Sustainability Manager

This role is responsible for the delivery of a high priority project’s sustainability deliverables including BREEAM verification of data, as well as leading on carbon emissions reduction reaching Net Zero Carbon, waste reduction and circular economy.


Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supporting on sustainability performance reporting, improvement and verification of data
  • Supporting on BREEAM at design stage and construction stage
  • Assisting on carbon emissions reduction and the wider resource efficiency agenda
  • Assisting in the development of new strategy, policy and NZC targets for McLaren Construction
  • Supporting the business in the implementation and delivery of the Group Sustainability strategy, its ambitions and targets
  • Supporting sustainability input to business development & bids
  • Carrying out research and development, identifying opportunities, encouraging innovation and improvements in transferability to increase efficiency
  • Influencing and networking, speaking and profile raising



Overall

Skills and Abilities:

  • Fully literate in the different carbon scopes while being able to clearly articulate to a range of audiences, including senior management
  • Experienced in delivering BREEAM design stage assessments and post construction assessments
  • Ensure that accurate and clear sustainability data is captured and reported across the specific project portfolio
  • Proven ability to implement sustainability initiatives across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent client management and negotiation skills
  • Building client relations across a portfolio of projects
  • Experienced in delivering LEED & WELL projects
  • Bid writing skills and presenting to potential clients



Experience / Knowledge:

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in environment and sustainability in construction and preconstruction
  • Practical experience on construction sites working with the site team
  • Demonstrated experience in producing environment and sustainability data for construction projects
  • Leading client meetings on sustainability deliverables
  • Leading project meetings on sustainable delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information in a concise way to a non-technical audience
  • Strong analytical, rigorous approach to sustainability data and the performance of construction projects
  • Business minded, able to articulate the value and benefits of sustainability, compliance, reporting, etc.
  • Able to negotiate with suppliers to find optimal efficiencies
