We are excited to share that our Midlands & North team has officially started works on the new state-of-the-art distribution centre for leading retailer, TJ Morris LTD at the Unity Yorkshire development in Doncaster. The new 1 million sq. ft facility will consist of a fully automated distribution hub, with a 43-metre-high bay and significant low bay and cold storage areas, designed to support TJ Morris’ expansion plans. Celebrating the groundbreaking today, our team were joined by Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, and representatives from Doncaster Council and Business Doncaster, WAYSTONE LIMITED, AtkinsRéalis and the logistics and automation team for TJ Morris, symbolising a collaborative effort in driving economic growth and investment in the region. In December, our colleagues Lucy Cramp and Kath Sheppard organised a fantastic charity raffle, bringing together teams across our Midlands and North region to raise an incredible £1,165 for The Lighthouse Charity. Recently, Lucy and Kath had the pleasure of presenting the cheque to the Lighthouse, who then held an insightful session with our colleagues highlighting the vital support they provide for the emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing of those in the construction industry and their families. Project Update 🚨 Our Midlands & North project team continues to make good progress on Omega West Unit 4, a £28m, 420,000 sq. ft industrial and logistics development at Omega Business Park, Warrington. This follows the successful delivery of Units 2 & 3 on behalf of Omega St Helens Limited. Stage 3 commissioning of the intake substation on the plot is progressing well, alongside the offsite manufacture and delivery of the enhanced photovoltaic panels, which are being readied to commence installation along with the internal steel reinforced concrete slabs to the warehouse. Externally, the steel reinforced concrete Yard Slabs are anticipated to be substantially completed by late March, with the office fit out to the main office block final finishes due to start in late March 2025. Once complete, the 420,000 sq. ft. unit will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including two-story offices, extensive warehouse space, a hub office, car park facilities, and comprehensive external works and landscaping. We are thrilled to share that our project, Konect62 in Knottingley, West Yorkshire has been shortlisted for the Yorkshires Commercial Awards in the Best Shed Deal category. Delivered last year on behalf of joint venture partners, Henderson Park and Cole Waterhouse, phase 1A comprises three highly sustainable units across 60-acres, which were built to let with a capability of providing over 1,500 essential jobs. Our team worked together with C4 ARCHITECTS to deliver the 161,000, 151,000 and 61,000 sq. ft options, alongside a 30-acre service plot, which was ground engineered and enabled with utilities. The scheme adopts low-carbon building design and technology, achieving BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings. Each unit has solar PV installed, enabling occupiers to further their own sustainability goals and net-zero agendas, while electric vehicle charging and a total of 400 cycle spaces help reduce travel emissions. Last week, we celebrated the official topping out of our 318 Oxford Street project, the Elephant with STRANDBROOK LIMITED as Development Manager for client Publica Properties Establishment, MGAC the Project Managers, Cost Managers and H&S as well as other members of the professional team. The former House of Fraser flag-ship building has undergone extensive refurbishment of the existing 6-storey 1930’s premises to provide state-of-the-art mixed used facility, including retail, commercial, and leisure. The building continues to undergo extensive structural configuration to enhance its offering, including façade repairs and conversion of upper floors to provide both Cat A & B commercial space and a 17,000 sq. rooftop restaurant offering 360-degree views of the surrounding area. Project Update🚨 Pivotal works on iQ Longwood Place in Coventry are progressing well. This major £100m scheme will provide high-quality student housing and vibrant community spaces, ideally located near the Warwick University Campus. Appointed by McLaren Property | Living | Regeneration and TOPLAND GROUP PLC , the new development will provide 1078 student bedrooms and 131 co-living rooms with common areas, a gym, a launderette, retail outlets and more. The first phase is set for completion in summer 2025, and the project is targeting a BREEAM Excellent sustainability rating. Key milestones include: 🏗️ External façades for multiple blocks are nearing completion 🏢 Marketing suite opened for prospective students 🚧 Site infrastructure and landscaping in progress Despite challenges from the sloping site, the team has worked closely with ecologists and local stakeholders to protect nearby natural habitats. Our project team is also providing on-site work placements and engaging with the local community. Last week, we celebrated a significant milestone with our client, Tishman Speyer, as we reached the top of our Angel Square project in Islington. This ambitious heavy cut-and-carve refurbishment is transforming 128,000 sq. ft of office space across three connected buildings into a single 293,000 sq. ft facility, offering best in class office space, along with a new public house and café.   The project is targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and WELL Platinum by reducing the building’s embodied carbon emission through use of the existing ribbed reinforced-concrete frame.   We look forward to delivering the completed project.
