🏆 Team Freeths bringing home another trophy 🏆 I am so so proud of our Freeths (and honorary member Alexandra Howe of BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd) netball team today at the Women in Property Yorkshire & North East tournament. Having never played netball together before (and needing to borrow a different 7th player for each match!) as well as some members of the team not having played the game for over 2 decades 😬, we were absolutely the underdogs in the tournament. So we were astounded to WIN so many games and come runners up out of 7 teams 🤩 Not only did these ladies play some stellar netball, but I’m also proud of their fantastic sportsmanship and spirit to their own teammates and players from other teams. Doing it the Freeths way every time 👏👏👏 Thank you so much to Sarah Wills at nineteen47 Ltd. for organising today. We had a great time and can’t wait for next year 🌟 Ellie Glover Ravinder Ghalay Katie Robson Marie Mulligan Alexandra Howe #workhardplayhard #sheffield #property #realestate

It's good to see the work from the Northern Counties Builders Federation (NCBF) in connecting employers with students in essential trades, including bricklaying, plumbing and carpentry, along with other initiatives to increase awareness and create greater #diversity in the #construction sector. "The business case for diversity is well-established. Research by McKinsey & Company has shown that companies with high gender diversity are 25% more likely to experience above-average profitability than their less-diverse counterparts. The evidence is clear that gender diversity drives better business outcomes and the construction industry cannot overlook this opportunity. "The time for change is now. We must work together to rethink how our sector recruits and markets itself to create an environment where everyone thrives. The future of construction depends upon it." New year, new commitment to getting some CPD hours in? Join me for a session and natter on archaeology and the planning process. Coffee and breakfast goodies included.
NEW YEAR, NEW EVENT CPD Accredited: Can You Dig It? Archaeology and the Planning Process Wednesday 29 January 2025 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM Independence House, Millfield Lane, Nether Poppleton, York YO26 6PH Join us for a breakfast CPD session where we will break down the different stages of archaeology and how these fit into the planning process. We will explore how archaeology fits into the planning process, taking a hypothetical site and working it through from inception, all the way to mitigation and publication, looking at how the planning process and various policies influence an archaeological development-led project. We also take a look at some case studies and, in particular, how the planning process and the wording of conditions almost ground the construction process to a halt. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussions. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. Tea/coffee and pastries will be available. Members and Non-Members of all genders are welcome to attend.

Thanks to Emma Croyle from brown + company, and Mary-Anne S. from York Archaeology for an interesting and insightful presentation and site tour of 105-127 Micklegate ApartHotel, currently under construction in York by Oculis Construction Limited. The architectural design is a contemporary reinterpretation of the medieval architecture found throughout York. Brown + company have been working closely with the construction team on site to deliver high quality new guest accommodation to central York. The detailed archaeological excavation carried out on site revealed evidence of the structures that formed part of an early Roman settlement and how its inhabitants were living and working in this area, as well as stone buildings associated with the later medieval Holy Trinity Priory.

Everyone at today's Visible Women's networking lunch in Leeds was inspired to say "yes" to every opportunity after listening to Natalie Sarabia-Johnston from Southgate & Sarabia Architects Ltd. A busy mum, architect and director of not-for-profit organisation Construction Futures, Natalie's philosophy is to "believe in yourself and just do it!" She urged employers to encourage more people to join the #property and #construction sector and to increase diversity and inclusion. Since January Construction Futures has helped 1200 students and delivered more than £4m in social value. Please contact Natalie or her business partner Jenny Kitchen if you can provide sponsorship, work placements, mentors or role models. One student who took part in the Women in Property National Student Awards who has been supported by Natalie and Jenny called them Fairy Godmothers, for turning her dreams into reality. Thanks to Natalie for such an inspirational talk, and thanks to Monica Green from Partners PR for organising it.
