Chair Paul McCartan hosted the first meeting of 2025 last week, welcoming over 25 members both in person and online. The focus of the meeting was workplace productivity and flexible working, with Mich Bondesio 🌿. We had great feedback from the session, with Paul commenting "The session helped explain some of the challenges ahead for organisations, that are opportunities and we need to see them in that light for the workforce of the future - to help unlock everyone’s potential best". Today, is the 10th year celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science! 🌟 🔬 🧪 At Phillips 66, we believe strongly in the power of representation and the critical role it plays in building a diverse workforce and sustainable future. Through our education outreach we aim to inspire future generations, break stereotypes and show women and girls what they too can achieve in science and STEM. We are lucky to have many role models who share our passion and continue to support our outreach and make a difference to girls in the region helping to develop their confidence and skills. Our EEK Programme aimed at year 6 pupils, and now in its 16th year has already seen passions ignite and students return for work experience and on graduate placements 12 years later! We support all to achieve whilst inspiring the next generation. This morning, Chief Strategy Officer Katie Hedges and Marketing and Content Creator Ellie Owens visited Hull to attend the Get Ready for Humber Business Week Launch Event. It was pleasure to network and connect with others, gain an insight into various Humber Business Week plans and events, and to hear CATCH EDIB Network Chair Paul McCartan talk all about our incredible network, and the importance of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging within industry as well as within events, along with Helen Thompson who spoke on EDIB in Practice and what to consider when planning an event. It was an engaging and enjoyable morning with plenty of food for thought around our Humber Business Week Events in June, including our EDIB Biz Week Network! lovely LinkedIn community Our Centre for Neurodiversity Research at work at Birkbeck, University of London which I lead with Nancy Doyle has been commissioned by Acas to undertake research into neuro inclusion: a) what do we know about prevalence and intersectionality b) how can we support line managers c) examples of best practice. The next stage of the research is an expert stakeholder consultation which Prof. Alexandra Beauregard, Kevin Teoh, Julia Gawronska and I will do. We are looking for: Senior EDI leaders Line managers Occupational health practitioners Specialist training and support providers Psychologists with expertise in this topic. Sounds like you?
