Our CATCH Facility has once again seen an incredible upgrade, this time to our TSC Simulator Suite. Our new simulator uses state of the art technology, enhancing our capability to deliver a more realistic and immersive training experience to our learners and delegates. The upgrades have also seen the introduction and inclusion of 3D virtual plants which allow for operators to walk around and control all aspect of the plant while in communication with the control room operator in a separate location. This fully interactive simulator experience involves reading and following in P&ID’s, radio communications, emergency procedures and the importance of following SOP’s. We would also like to thank North East Lincolnshire Council for providing support and the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) for their role in this incredible upgrade o our simulator, which is perfect for both experience operators and apprentices to learn and upskill. If you would like an opportunity to tour our new simulator suite, please contact Mark Booth TMIET (mark.booth@catchuk.org) who will be more than happy to demonstrate the simulator and discuss how CATCH can support your training needs. We love a slice of the positive media pie! And whilst the @ITV interview came on the back of the Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves’ announcement regarding regional skills investments in order to prepare workers for the energy transition, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise. Catch work tirelessly with partners, local businesses and stakeholders putting plans into action to deliver on the region’s existing and future skills infrastructure identified in the The Humber Industrial Cluster Plan — All of whom don’t just talk the talk they’re walking the walk. The numbers don’t lie. Over 20,000 new jobs are anticipated through the unlocking of at least £15 billion of private investment in the Humber to deliver the regions planned projects and stands to reason. The sheer scale of the opportunity in the #Humber the #UK's Energy Estuary, with a burgeoning reputation for renewable energy production and a thriving ecosystem of energy companies and expertise — Action is needed. So, CATCH, along with a growing consortium of delivery sponsors took the bull by the horns some time ago and are moving on a ground-breaking new National Net Zero Training Centre for the UK. And as David Talbot frequently stresses: “To advance the decarbonisation journey, we urgently need more pipefitters, platers, welders and fabricators. No single company can do this alone, which is why collaboration has been key in addressing the ever-growing skills gap in these crucial trades.” The centre aims to increase new learner numbers per year across engineering, construction trades and essential skills to build, maintain and operate a net zero infrastructure from 100 to 1,000 by 2030. The recently opened CATCH UK Welding and Pipefitting Hub was made possible by a £1.5 million funding investment from CATCH’s sponsors in the region, including Viking CCS members Phillips 66, Harbour Energy, Drax Group and Associated British Ports. Plus Air Products and Uniper, alongside funding from the ECITB and Humber Freeport. Yesterday, following the announcement from the UK Government regarding regional skills investments in order to prepare workers for the energy transition, CATCH were fortunate to host ITV News Calendar. The ITV team toured the CATCH facility, interviewed apprentices, and also spoke to both Joel Broddle AWeldI, Head of Welding and Pipefitting and David Talbot, CATCH Chief Executive Officer, about the skills shortage within Lincolnshire and the importance of skills training in order to provide both Lincolnshire and the UK with a workforce who are capable of supporting the energy transition. This was a fantastic opportunity for all involved, and allowed for us to showcase the exceptional training that is being offered at CATCH, as well as how we plan to grow and help bridge the skills gap and prepare the next generation for a future in clean energy. Thank you once again to ITV Calendar News, as well as all CATCH staff and apprentices for their support. David Talbot Katie Hedges Lisa Buck Joel Broddle AWeldI Ellie Owens ITV News

All set up ready for day 2 of the ECITB Medium Risk Confined Space course here at CATCH. This morning, Chief Strategy Officer Katie Hedges and Marketing and Content Creator Ellie Owens visited Hull to attend the Get Ready for Humber Business Week Launch Event. It was pleasure to network and connect with others, gain an insight into various Humber Business Week plans and events, and to hear CATCH EDIB Network Chair Paul McCartan talk all about our incredible network, and the importance of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging within industry as well as within events, along with Helen Thompson who spoke on EDIB in Practice and what to consider when planning an event. It was an engaging and enjoyable morning with plenty of food for thought around our Humber Business Week Events in June, including our EDIB Biz Week Network! If you are interested in joining the CATCH EDIB Network, please contact Chair Paul McCartan or Lisa Buck lisa.buck@catchuk.org.
