The year’s National Inclusion Week has been focusing on impact. For some organisations, making an impact is exactly what they do.   In June, our newest EfC member RPC released their eye-opening research on what it really means to be a carer in the legal sector. Lifting the lid on a subject which is often brushed under the carpet, they revealed the overwhelming impact caring can have on work, physical wellbeing and mental health. We are delighted to be working with RPC, Rachel Pears and Rachel Euripides (Assoc CIPD) from the firm's Responsible Business team to encourage more courageous conversations about caring, and make a difference for carers in the legal sector. #inclusion #caring #legal

To continue celebrating National Inclusion Week, our Senior Content and Development Officer Kathryn Woolston-Thomas has written a short article about inclusivity of carers in the workplace and how your organisation can support carers on an organisational, managerial and employee level.    "Carers may come into an organisation already caring, they may have to respond to an emergency during the workday that triggers a longer-term caring responsibility, they may come in and out of a caring role or have multiple caring roles at once to fulfil. It is important for organisations to think about these different types of scenarios and the means of support that could benefit them."   #nationalinclusionweek #supportingworkingcarers #impactmatters

It’s National Inclusion Week! The theme this year is Impact Matters.    Caring can be one of the most significant periods of peoples’ lives, and can have a huge impact on anyone. Last year, Carers UK's State of Caring survey showed 82% of carers thought their physical and mental health would be challenged over the coming 12 months.     The Carer Confident benchmarking scheme has been designed to give your organisation the framework to understand how you’re supporting carers in your workplace, and where you need to build more support. Using the experience of the Employers for Carers forum, which has been working with organisations since 2009, it's a practical tool to celebrate brilliant businesses and promote positive change for the future.     Organisations have a huge role to play in their people’s wellbeing; explore how you can show your support for carers.   Let’s show carers matter this Inclusion Week.    #impact #carersmatter #nationalinclusionweek #NiW2024

National Inclusion Week is just one week away!     Inclusion has time and again been proven to make business sense, and organisations with more engaged employees see the results in their bottom line.     However, caring in the workplace is often late to be included in this conversation - or left out altogether. This is despite consistent statistics showing that caring leaves individuals more likely to suffer from poor mental health, or ultimately have to drop out of the workforce. If a company wants to be truly inclusive, they need to include carers in their inclusion and engagement work.    Want to explore what you can do as an organisation? Get in touch to see how we might support you.     Let’s make inclusion of carers the norm, rather than the exception.  #NiW2024 #nationalinclusionweek #inclusion #caring

Not even half of UK adults can recognise an unpaid carer. What makes this more striking is that over half of unpaid carers looking after a loved one take a year or more to realise they are caring. When even those delivering the care don't realise this 'counts as care', it's little surprise many working carers are not accessing the vital support that they need. Pulled together by the powerhouse that is MullenLowe Global, our ‘This Counts As Care’ is a new multi-channel, awareness-raising campaign. Launching this week with media partners including Clear Channel UK, Sky Media UK, The Guardian and Acast, this new campaign will help us reach many more people who feel alone or overwhelmed. 12,000 people become unpaid carers every day - would you recognise what counts as care?

The future of work must greater support for carers. Workplace dynamics are shifting, and with an aging population, more employees are balancing work and care. This means that legislation and the government need to follow suit. If you haven't had chance to read the brand new economic case for paid carers leave, make sure you do so. With real life examples from Employers for Carers members: Centrica, Phoenix Group and TSB Bank, it's another illuminating illustration of how supporting carers comes at little cost, and a huge positive impact.

📣 Calling on all organisations! 📣 Today, Carers UK has released a report to encourage the Government to introduce a statutory right to paid Carer’s Leave. There is robust evidence to suggest that providing working carers with access to paid Carer’s Leave would leverage even greater benefits for carers, employers and the economy at very little cost. You can read the full report on our news page: https://lnkd.in/eGYZPYhG If your organisation would like to stand with us and support the campaign, please sign up here: https://lnkd.in/e-YUC8CZ
