⚓ Join us on this Wednesday 11th of September for an introduction to the new Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF) default clause, in the Lloyd’s Old Library (09:30-10:45 BST). Lloyd’s Open Form (LOF) is an essential tool in ensuring safety at sea and minimising pollution risks. It is unique in that it is the only contract that ensures that in an emergency, the parties can proceed with speed to engage salvage services without the requirement to negotiate terms on the services to be provided: once it is signed, professional salvors are obliged to use their best endeavours to save lives and property and prevent/minimise pollution. Following a recent review of how best to preserve and promote the benefits of LOF, one of the issues considered was whether it is possible to provide within the insurance policy: · confirmation that LOF is the default contract to be used by Owners when a vessel is in danger, so that they can agree an emergency salvage response without delay and without any undue concern that they will have to try to justify this decision in retrospect to their insurer, and; · clarity around the process of Owners informing their insurers of the casualty as early as possible to ensure due consultation as to the appropriate choice of contract, when a vessel requires non-standard towage services. The Lloyd's Market Association and International Chamber of Shipping have jointly drafted and consulted widely on a contractual provision that aims to provide the Master, the assured Owners and their insurers greater certainty when requiring salvage services. The outcome of this is the introduction of a new LOF default clause to be included in marine policies. Event participants include: Moderator: Neil Roberts (Lloyd's Market Association) Speakers: David Lawrence (Lloyd's), Andreas Bisbas (Miller Insurance Services LLP), Arabella Ramage (Lloyd's Market Association) and Kiran Khosla (International Chamber of Shipping) Panel members: Stephan Hennig (SOSREP), Sundeep Khera (AXA XL), Amy Eaves - ACII (Lancashire Insurance Group), Ben Harris (The Shipowners' Protection Limited) 👉 Please register with the link below: https://lnkd.in/eV5BCvgw #LloydsOpenForm #LOF #Salvage #LloydsAgency

A huge congrats to Julie Le Déaut for completing this year’s Raptör Insurance Industry networking Bike Ride! As Lloyd's is one of the main partners and sponsors of this charity event, our Lloyd’s Agency team is proud to have one of its members representing us and more broadly the Lloyd’s Corporation for such a good cause. This year’s edition took place in the Swiss Jura and gathered 70 riders from the London insurance market. They cycled 232 miles (389 km) and climbed 15,572 ft (4 747m) for the great projects supported both by Action Medical Research (vital research to help sick and disabled babies, children and young adults) and the Lloyd’s of London Foundation. Well done everyone for an amazing effort! For anyone who wishes to contribute to this cause and reward our Lloyd’s cyclists, the link for donations is still opened: https://lnkd.in/g_g2kjwd #RaptorBikeRide #LloydsOfLondonFoundation #ActionMedicalResearch #LloydsAgency

A key highlight for three work experience students at the International Underwriting Association of London this week, was a fascinating trip around the Lloyd’s building with Anita Crane. Lilly, Felicity and Masie viewed the Old Library, Nelson Collection as well as observing the underwriting floor and Lutine Bell. Anita delved into the history of the iconic building, including the quill and ink entries of the loss book, classes of business underwritten on the boxes, to visits by Royalty. Anita also had a few interesting facts to share during our riveting tour, including lightbulbs (bespoke just for Lloyd’s!) and mice hidden in Terence Cuneo paintings…(have you spotted them?) Many thanks, Anita, for this great insight into the history of Lloyd's and the market!

Last week Pushkar Gadam and Kevin. Clarke were in Singapore to host a Lloyd's Global Marine seminar. A great way to connect with mariners and colleagues from the South East Asian market and share the latest updates on the new version of the Lloyd's Open Form. Paul Hackett from Canopius Group provided insights on the Asian Marine Insurance Market, Jasmin Tan an overview of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), thanks to Eduardo Pineda Martinez (Andrew Moore & Associates Ltd) we had an interesting technical analysis on the failure of metallic components, and Brendan Martin of Lloyd's List Intelligence introduced us to seaborne trade through SeaTech. Thank you to our speakers who participated in the success of this seminar and our colleagues from Lloyd's Singapore for hosting the event. #LloydsOpenForm #LloydsAgency #LloydsSingapore
