We're excited to share that Rafael Szmid was invited to present as a guest lecturer at the University of São Paulo (Ribeirão Preto), Brazil, to speak about anticorruption corporate monitors as part of the course "Lava Jato, Ten Years Later: Legal, Political, and Institutional Assessments." Rafael is deeply knowledgeable about this topic. In fact, in 2021, he authored the first Brazilian book on anti-corruption corporate monitors, a work that has since been cited by both scholars and U.S. DOJ-appointed monitors. #anticorruption #corporatemonitors #Brazil #regulatory #enforcement

Nishad Singh, former engineering director of #FTX, is set to stand before a judge in New York and await sentencing for his crimes on Wednesday, October 30th. Singh is one of the final executives from FTX and Alameda to be sentenced after pleading guilty to a variety of fraud and campaign finance violations and testifying at Sam Bankman-Fried’s criminal trial. In a recent article published by Cointelegraph, Mark Bini shares his thoughts on how a judge may interpret Singh's cooperation with prosecutors when considering sentencing guidelines. #fraud #crypto #enforcement #corporatecrime “I think [Singh] is going to get a little bit more [time] than Caroline Ellison [...] Ellison was really in the misappropriation crime — she knew about that — [for] Singh, while he may have had less knowledge of the misappropriation crime, he also knew about this campaign finance violation.” - Mark Bini

In the latest post in our #ProtestPOV series, Kendra Perkins Norwood, Mitch Bailey, and Karla Perez Chacon discuss the lessons learned from a recent decision where the U.S. Government Accountability Office sustained, in part, a pre-award protest challenging the terms of a solicitation. This case highlights how agencies must adequately justify solicitation terms that limit full and open competition and may not impose random requirements that restrict competition for no reason. #bidprotests #governmentcontracts
