Had an amazing time yesterday at the tour of Sister held by Women in Property ! Jenni Greenwood MRICS and Annabel Meredith walked us through the plans for each plot of the future innovation district, regeneration masterplan by Bruntwood SciTech and The University of Manchester. It’s incredible to see how this space is bringing together startups, entrepreneurs, and creatives to drive innovation. With cutting-edge facilities, tailored support for early-stage ventures, and a strong focus on sustainability, SISTER is set to become an essential part of Manchester's future. Can't wait to see the amazing things coming out of this vibrant community.

I had a really inspiring start to the day yesterday at the Women in Property site tour of Sister in Manchester – and for once, it wasn’t raining! It was great to hear all about the exciting plans for Sister, a partnership between The University of Manchester and Bruntwood SciTech, set to transform this underused area of the city over the next 15 years. What really stood out to me and felt so refreshing was the clear focus on community, collaboration, and inclusivity, paired with a strong commitment to sustainability. The vision is to create a vibrant neighbourhood that blends science, technology, and creativity – a place where students and businesses thrive, families grow, and people connect, all surrounded by beautiful pockets of green space. In our studio, we often talk about how prioritising community building in design can have a huge impact on wellbeing. Creating inspiring interiors where people feel connected and included is so important for encouraging collaboration and sparking creativity. I loved seeing the Renold Building already playing a part in this by providing, affordable spaces for young businesses and graduates, helping them collaborate and grow with minimal startup costs. Annabel Meredith and Jenni Greenwood MRICS hosted such an engaging and insightful tour, sharing their knowledge and passion for the project in a genuine and compelling way. I’m excited to see how Sister evolves and the positive impact it will have on Manchester. #builtenvironment #communitywellbeing #interiordesign

Thank you to Women in Property North West for a fantastic walking tour of SISTER (aided in part by our internal wayfinding signage around the Renold Building!). It's a highly complex site with level changes and barriers to connection, its origin, being purpose built for the university, makes the buildings difficult to adapt to modern commercial space, with listed status adding further complexity. It's a lovely story of a place though, with the name change from ID Manchester to SISTER - an acronym for Special Institutions for Scientific and Technological Education and Research - key to the heritage of the site, while aligning with the collaborative ethos of the campus. There are exciting plans to open up the site, expand the landscaping and improve connectivity that we look forward to seeing realised. Thank you to Women in Property for a great morning! 👏

Started off the morning with an amazing site visit with the Next Gen Committee Women in Property North West of the SISTER innovation district. Looking at the vision of how the joint venture between The University of Manchester and Bruntwood SciTech is going to redevelop and regenerate the area to be a world leading district over the next 15 years is a strong move. Spent the morning with Women in Property North West exploring Sister, the Manchester-based regeneration masterplan by Bruntwood SciTech and The University of Manchester.
