Have you visited the new interpretive signs at Dunlap Island Park? Created in partnership between the City of Cloquet and the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, 106 Group was honored to design and fabricate six panels that highlight the natural and cultural history of the St. Louis River. We worked to ensure these narratives are meaningful and culturally respectful, showcasing the unique culture, language, and art of the community. https://lnkd.in/dsuXz5sX #InterpretiveDesign #CulturalHeritage #CommunityEngagement #IndigenousHistory #PlaceMaking #Interpretation

Exciting news! Poetry in Parks is bringing historic American poems to picnic tables in seven national parks! Curated by 24th U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, each poem encourages visitors to slow down and connect with nature. This summer and fall, Limón will visit each park to unveil these unique public art installations. https://lnkd.in/eAGhJkHg #PoetryInParks #NationalParks #HispanicHeritageMonth #NPS #LatinoHeritage

Bloedel Reserve is delighted to announce the recent completion of the organization's Interpretive Master Plan. We feel honored to have worked with the talented Julie Davis, PhD of 106 Group, Katherine Lamers, and Sam Olbekson, AIA, NCARB, AICAE, NOMA on this rewarding and complex project. The organization's goals for this Plan were to create a cohesive and uniform approach to interpretation that integrates storytelling into the visitor experience; to distill and clarify the main messages visitors take away from their experience; to create a safe, accessible, and informed experience for a broad range of visitors; and to design and adopt a uniform visual environmental graphic design language that respects the founders’ intent. The Plan also clearly states goals for the visitor experience, which show up as key threads in the Plan's interpretive themes: All visitors to Bloedel Reserve will feel immersed in restorative landscapes that engage their senses, encourage them to be present, and connect them with nature. Visitors also will find opportunities to understand the relationship between people and the land here and to deepen their own relationship to this place. We thank our incredible partners, staff, and Board of Trustees for stewarding this project into completion.
