Meet Jessica Huertas (she/her), our Women’s Health Advocacy Clinical Steward from Bethlehem, PA who coaches and collaborates with our nurses to improve maternity and fertility care. Jessica is a part of the Women Empowering Women and Hispanic Indigenous People Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). “Both allow me to feel supported by the groups I identify with. I find fulfillment in staying connected and offering my support to others here at Accolade in meaningful ways.” Jessica grew up in an area with a high rate of teen pregnancy. She was drawn to women's health, particularly pregnancy and childbirth care because she wanted to support her community. She initially wanted to be a physician, but once she learned more about the nurses' role in healthcare, she knew that was the right career path for her. One of Jessica’s most memorable moments at Accolade was assisting a member in the maternity management program. Helping the member prepare for her pregnancy and delivery is an important part of the program, but Jessica also helped the member find a therapist for her spouse who was going through grief and anger management issues, a specialist for her toddler who was showing signs of early autism, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) facilities that would make a custom helmet for her other son's torticollis diagnosis. Jessica reflected on how Accolade empowers her and our Care Delivery Team to go above and beyond for members, “I am grateful to have an impact on so many members through Accolade.” Jessica has worked at Accolade for 13 years and recently moved into a team leadership role. She enjoys helping her teammates grow their skills, connect with members, and make a difference in their healthcare. “As a Latina woman in healthcare, I can speak for those that may not have a voice, I can offer a different perspective when I am given a chance to speak up and I can hold space for others to follow behind me and improve health care for everyone.” #WeAreAccolade #AccoladeStrongerTogether #WomenEmpoweringWomenERG #HispanicIndigenousPeople Comment below what Employee Resource Groups have an impact on you ⬇️
