I didn’t want to post this. However, others need to be made aware. This is an example of what #jobseekers are dealing with. This is not a recycled post, this is my own experience. Yesterday I applied for an onsite position locally. To be clear - I don’t live within driving distance (meaning at least an hour once way w/o traffic) of a city so majority of positions I apply for are remote. Today I received a text message inviting me to an automated screening for the position. This screening asked typical questions, of course many of them were repeats of the original applications. Then there were new ones. 1. Are you ok with 100% travel? 2. Travel could be 5-1000 miles from home. Your location will be different 80% of the time-is that ok? 3. Are you ok with working nights? 10-12 hrs required 4. Our openings are full-time, and we are looking for candidates that can work an average of 50-60 hours per week. 5. Starting salary is $50K per year which is non-negotiable. Now this is after I filled out an application in which in noted that this was an onsite position. There was nothing listed about nights, travel, etc and the salary noted on the listing? 65-110k. The automated screening went on to ask me interview type questions. But I had decided I was done with the screening, this position had been extremely misrepresented. I stated as much and closed the window. Now this is probably where most people are assuming this was a fake company. Nope. This company is a HUGE employer. After over 5 months of being laid off and dealing with a lot of this sort of stuff…job searching really has become exhausting. Y’all I just want to work, be part of an organization that does good things and make a difference. Why does this have to be so difficult? #layoffs #jobapplications #applicationprocess #employerstories Update: comments have been turned off, I can’t keep up with them anymore and some people are attacking others within the comments.
