Thank you to Cleco and the Northshore Community Foundation for supporting the expansion of #EV charging in the St. Tammany Parish. Let’s get charged up Louisiana. 🔌🔋🚗

Working with great organizations like Adopt a Charger, MARITIME MUSEUM LOUISIANA , Northshore Community Foundation, GSE Integrated, and Cleco to solve EV charging deserts in Louisiana is the best part of my job. It was great to see this level 2 destination charger project come to fruition for the Louisiana Maritime Museum in Madisonville, LA. Contact me and Kitty Adams Hoksbergen if you're interested in hosting level 2 chargers in the Northshore region.

Adopt a Charger has proven to be a successful strategy for difficult to commercialize locations, emerging markets and remote/rural charging. When folks are discussing reliability, I invite you to consider what is working!! We take pride in offering charging that people can count on. Our goal is to offer a solution that is in the best interest of the site host, the EV driver, and the sponsor or funding agency. #trackrecord #streetcred #countonAAC #EVcharging #experts #15states #over600 #EVCS

Adopt a Charger recently completed the upgrade of 6 #EVCS at #PointReyes National Seashore, in Marin County, California. We originally installed 3 EVCS here in 2013 to honor Craig Childers, an engineer for the California Air Resources Board (CARB), whose passion for electric cars put him at the center of electric vehicle policy in California since 1999. Craig helped me start Adopt a Charger in 2011, and was a mentor and friend. When he died unexpectedly on August 22, 2013, at the age of 57, I knew I wanted to honor his contribution to advancing the electrification of transportation with an Adopt a Charger site. We teamed up with the National Park Service, the #Marin School of Environmental Leadership, the Transportation Authority of Marin, and the Golden Gate Electric Vehicle Association to raise the funding needed to install the EVCS at the Bear Valley Visitor Center in his honor. Point Reyes is a popular destination location for Bay Area residents, which boasts the largest concentration of EVs in the country. As the demand grew for charging at this spot, Adopt a Charger was fortunate to work with the California Energy Commission, the National Park Foundation, and the Point Reyes National Seashore Association to double the number of charging stations to 6, and add additional electrical capacity, so we could increase the charging rate from 16 amps to 32 amps of power, doubling the amount of range added.  Adopt a Charger received a grant of $30,000 from the NPF to enable the upgrade. The funding covered all the costs of installation, equipment, and 5 years of maintenance and operation for the charging stations. The recently installed Tesla Universal Wall Connectors feature both the J-1772 plug, as well as the North American Charging Standard (NACS), and can charge all EVs on the road without an adaptor. This also enabled us to monetize the charging using the Tesla app, so we can pass the cost of electricity on to the EV drivers. Typically Adopt a Charger promotes fee-free charging, but the average monthly electrical bill was $2,000, and beyond what we could fundraise from sponsors. As we continue to grow and evolve, the core principles of Adopt a Charger are to provide accessible, affordable, and reliable EV charging. We specialize in difficult-to-commercialize locations like National Parks and State Parks, and have proven to be a successful solution for emerging markets and rural areas, where the utilization does not provide a business case for recouping costs, but where the EVCS are important assets to enable zero emission travel. "By offering EV charging at Point Reyes National Seashore, my goal is to encourage folks to leave their gas car behind, connect with nature’s splendor, and to consider the impact of their actions on future generations."  — Kitty Adams Hoksbergen, Executive Director, AAC

Yay!! Celebrating the latest Adopt a Charger initiative. Thank you, Entergy!! “Partnering with sustainable initiatives like Charge Up! Mississippi helps further Entergy’s commitment to strengthen our communities for the future,” said Kelli M. Dowell, director of environmental policy. “We’re proud to support projects through our Environmental Initiatives Fund that will reduce environmental risk, across our service area.” On the Hinds Community College campus, EV charging stations are available for public usage at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center & Resort and the Student Union Building. “Hinds Community College is proud to be the first community college in Mississippi to have EV chargers located on campus,” said Brock H. Haas, MBA, PhD, director of Eagle Ridge Conference Center & Resort/Business Faculty at Hinds Community College. “We understand the growing demand for EV charging options. These new stations ensure our students, faculty, and visitors have the practical resources they need to choose more sustainable transportation methods. This new technology will help aid in accomplishing our mission to move people and communities forward by helping develop their purpose, passion, and profession.” According to experts at Adopt a Charger, installing the chargers in commuter communities and at popular destination locations will enable more interaction between curious consumers and actual owners. “When people spot an EV driving down the road, they don’t automatically notice that the vehicle runs on electricity. The ‘aha’ moment happens when they see the car plugged in at places they like to go and get to ask questions of the driver about the owner’s experience.” said Kitty Adams, executive director of Adopt a Charger. “I love partnering with colleges and universities because the demographic is quick to embrace new technology, and typically strives to have a positive impact on the environment. I’m grateful to Entergy and Tesla Motors for supporting the expansion of EV infrastructure in and around the City of Jackson. @teslacharging is donating their Universal Wall Connector for each charging station, which features both the North American Charging Standard and the J-1772 connector. The equipment provides compatibility with all plug-in vehicles on the market. The Level 2 – 240 volt stations add up to 25 miles of range per hour, making it the perfect solution for visitors who routinely spend at least three hours visiting the campus. https://lnkd.in/gFXt8zvc

Congrats, Wallbox Chargers, COIL, Clean & Prosperous Washington & Adopt a Charger, on receiving $25.6 million from the Washington Department of Commerce’s EV Charging Program! The awards will be used to deploy Wallbox’s latest AC Level 2 charger, the Pulsar Pro, across 148 multifamily housing properties throughout the state of Washington. I love that this public-private partnership will strongly prioritize communities that are most vulnerable to the health impacts of air pollution. This award is part of a larger $85 million dollars initially announced in February by Washington Governor Jay Inslee & the Washington Department of Commerce, representing the first of two announced rounds of funding dedicated to supporting clean transportation, improving air quality, & ensuring EV charging access for all Washington drivers by addressing key gaps in the state’s light duty charging infrastructure. Through our Environmental Initiatives Fund, Entergy is helping local community partners with environmental projects across the region. Congrats to all the latest recipients! Over the past few years through this grant we have worked with Adopt a Charger to deploy dozens of EV chargers in Arkansas and Mississippi. I look forward to our continued partnership, and look forward to more chargers coming in the future! Have a project in mind? The 2024 applications are open. #wepowerlife
