AMSG has many capabilities and each month we will be showcasing a different one. **Did you know- AMSG is part of a team that produces an award-winning podcast?** Members of Team AMSG have received the distinct honor of the 2024 Secretary’s Award. The Secretary’s Award is an award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The awards honor employees from across DHS for their work, sacrifice, and professional excellence. The Technologically Speaking Podcast Team of the DHS Science and Technology Directorate was awarded with The Secretary’s Award for Innovation 2024. This award recognizes individuals or teams that use a strategic approach across the enterprise to strengthen the Department of Homeland Security mission and operations. The Technologically Speaking Podcast Team is made up of Wendy Howe (DHS Director, Communications & Outreach Division), Jamie Philpotts (DHS Deputy Director, Chief Web & Digital Experience), Deepak Saini (DHS Chief, Media Relations), and John Verrico (DHS Public Relations). AMSG’s very own, Jeffrey Dewhurst PMP (Technical Writer/Editor) has served as one of the three producers on the podcast since its inception. AMSG is pleased to announce that the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Solution Delivery Division (SDD) has awarded us the Acquisition, Requirements and Resource Management Support Services (ARRM) contract. Valued at over $32 million, this competitive award represents another milestone for AMSG. Congrats also to our subcontractor DLH Corporation for their support in creating the winning proposal! AMSG President & CEO Jim O'Farrell said, “We are honored to have been awarded the SDD Acquisition, Requirements and Resource Management Support Services (ARRM) contract. This underscores our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of services. At AMSG, our “Java with Jim” sessions offer a fantastic opportunity for our team to connect with our CEO in a relaxed and informal setting. This monthly virtual coffee hour is all about open discussions, casual conversations, and fostering a sense of community within our team. This month’s session had a delightful twist: one of our team members brought their pet lizard along for the virtual chat! 🦎 It was a unique and charming addition to our “Java with Jim,” proving that even our scaly friends can join in on the fun. Earlier this month, we shared an exciting update about connecting our AMSG Team Member, Ethan Taylor, to the incredible organization, Heroes Night Out, which sponsors the Fox Bravo Overland in the western United States. Last week, the AMSG team had the opportunity to engage with our community by visiting Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture, where we spent the day volunteering alongside their skilled team to advance their mission of sustainable agriculture and local food production. Our day began with a guided tour, during which we explored the farm's innovative agricultural practices and sampled the fresh, seasonal produce. Afterward, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work, contributing to several farm projects. To end this wonderful day, we enjoyed a delightful meal featuring fresh, seasonal produce straight from the farm. AMSG is proud to have sponsored the 2024 Annual Youth Sportsman Day for the second year in a row! Our team member, Jeff Meade, introduced us to this amazing organization that hosts this event. Jeff is a Tournament Director for the local BASS Fishing Club (Battlefield BASS). Each year, the club partners with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources for this event, which focuses on providing children 15 and under the opportunity to learn about fishing, archery, the environment, conservation, and more. The event was a huge success with countless smiling faces!
