It’s that time of year! 🦌🚗🍁 Drivers, stay alert—deer are on the move! Fall means deer breeding season, and deer are most active at dawn and dusk, increasing your chances of encountering them on the road. Slow down, stay cautious, and never swerve to avoid a deer. Be extra careful in areas with deer crossing signs, and if you see one, expect others nearby. Remember, always wear your seatbelt, and if you hit a deer, report the accident to local law enforcement. Let’s stay safe this season! #Fall #DeerOnTheMove #StayAlert

We have seen success of the Virginia Elk Restoration Project & elk conservation efforts, but the biggest thing to focus on for habitat connectivity with this species is creating safe passageways for elk across roads, particularly along Corridor Q in Southwest Virginia. Join us for an exciting event with Jackie Rosenberger, Elk Project Leader for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources! There go one of our favorite panelist, Tim Tassitano! 💚
Getting out of the office to enjoy the outdoors we work year-round to protect is always a highlight of Virginia Conservation Network's Annual Meeting & Partner Retreat. But our work doesn't stop just because the Wi-Fi drops! I moderated my first panel of communications professionals from Virginia state agencies to discuss communications strategy in the environmental field. Thank you to panelists Emi E., Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation; Irina Calos, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality; Greg Bilyeu, Virginia Department of Forestry; and Timothy Tassitano, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources for sharing professional insights with our Network!
