We were honored to attend the Dayton NAACP Hall of Freedom Awards Friday, celebrating this year’s theme: "Fully Committed!" This powerful event brought together over 1,200 individuals dedicated to civil and human rights, showcasing the impact of community unity and commitment. Congratulations to all award recipients! A special highlight was hearing from Dayton’s own Curtiss Cook, whose journey from the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company to the big screen served as a moving reminder of the talent and resilience within our community. His story, along with those of all honorees, inspired us to strengthen our commitment to building a more inclusive and empowered Dayton. #FullyCommitted #DaytonNAACP #HallOfFreedom #CommunityImpact

On Wednesday, AES Ohio had the privilege of giving back at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark, one of 25 stunning locations operated by Five Rivers MetroParks. With over 16,000 acres of protected open space, these parks provide year-round recreation, education, and conservation opportunities for our community. Our people are the backbone of AES Ohio, and we're proud that so many come out each year for Day in the Parks 🌱. They roll up their sleeves and tackle beautification projects that help keep our local parks thriving. This year's projects included garden bed maintenance, adding gravel to the Marie Aull Trail, cleaning out tree cages, and tree planting. We’re excited to make a lasting impact!

Yesterday, we celebrated a major milestone at AES Ohio with a ribbon cutting and “transfer of power” at our Fayette Substation in Jeffersonville, Ohio! This event marks the transition from one dedicated AES Ohio team to another, as we continue to enhance the grid’s reliability and resilience with Project Hi-light. This ambitious initiative includes a groundbreaking facility that will improve the capacity and reliability of electric service in Fayette County and the entire AES Ohio transmission system.  💡 Project Hi-light has several phases, with Phase 1 already delivering power to the new “Mega Site” area. We are proud to have met our commitment to serve the L-H Battery Company by August 1, 2024, aligning with their production schedule for 2025. Here’s a snapshot of what’s been achieved so far: 🏗️ Phase 1: • Construction of two large substations. • 13.5 miles of double circuit 345 kV and 0.5 miles of double circuit 138 kV lines. • Temporary infrastructure, including a mobile substation, 3 miles of 3-phase distribution lines, and 7 transformers to power the L-H Battery Company's construction at the Mega Site. This phase brings increased capacity and power to the area. 🏗️ Phase 2: Adding a new substation in Jeffersonville (to be completed in 2026) to retire the current substation. 🏗️ Phase 3: Networking substations in Fayette, Jeffersonville and Octa by 2028 to further strengthen regional reliability and resilience. A huge thank you to the incredible teams and contractors, Burns & McDonnell, New River Transmission, Aldridge, Sterling, ORC, and SAM, who have made this possible.
