All week long, we have been at #ALC53 to raise awareness about the immediate need for protection for Congolese people in the U.S. We are tired of the broken system and political games that end up always putting people's lives in danger, especially when there are tools available that can prevent even more death and displacement from occurring. The issues affecting our 🇨🇩 Congolese brothers and sisters are urgent and deserve to receive more attention and action! Fighting for civil rights, opportunity, and a better life for African immigrant families here in the U.S. and worldwide.
About us
African Communities Together is a membership organization of immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa and their families. ACT is dedicated to helping the African immigrant diaspora in the US to integrate socially, get ahead economically, and have a voice politically. ACT connects African immigrants to direct services, develops African immigrants as grassroots leaders, and mobilizes African immigrants through campaigns for social change. ACT launched our first chapter in New York City in fall of 2012. In 2015, we expanded our work to the Washington, DC area.

As we gear towards Climate Action Week in NYC 🌎 , we're again centering grassroots voices during global conversations. This time, we'll focus through art on how climate displacement affects countries in the Global South with floods, landslides, and high temperatures. At the same time, the worldwide north continues to exploit and accelerate global warming. Join us for an evening filled with arts and narratives from diverse communities. Hear directly from the featured climate-displaced leaders and the artists and advocates working at the intersection of climate and migrant justice. From the music, to the food, to the fashion, African culture and influence can be found everywhere and our reach is only growing!
