If you are able, please consider assisting in AIA Florida's post-hurricane recovery efforts by donating or volunteering. Find more info below ⬇️ From AIA Florida: "In less than two weeks after the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key Wednesday night. Hurricane Milton, the third fastest intensifying storm in the Atlantic basin's history, grew to a category five storm ahead of its landfall as a category three and placed more than 50 counties in a state of emergency. A record number of people evacuated from the west coast of Florida ahead of its landfall. Parts of South Florida and the Treasure Coast faced destruction from ongoing tornadoes ahead of Milton's landfall, while the Gulf Coast endured extensive devastation from wind, rain, and storm surge." DONATE AIA Florida is continuing to collect funds to help communities impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton and conduct an ongoing assessment and preparation for Safety Assessment Program (SAP) professionals. You may donate HERE: https://lnkd.in/gEkqxsmU VOLUNTEER They are still in need of architects to conduct damage assessments in areas hit by the storms. It is preferred that you have completed the SAP training. Volunteers must be available for four to seven consecutive days and some locations do not have a base camp which will require arrangement of your own housing. You must be licensed in Florida to practice architecture to be protected by Florida’s Good Samaritan law when responding to declared emergencies. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form HERE: https://lnkd.in/gdwvA-V5

We will be thinking of all those affected as we begin to assess how we can best assist on the long road to recovery. For those who would like to help, we are accepting monetary donations in support of future efforts. We will work with local components to assess how to best distribute funds to those that are in need. You may donate here: https://buff.ly/3Y3YnV3 We will continue to track responses from those with SAP training who are prepared to assist and provide updates on possible deployment. We are proud to be represented at The American Institute of Architects (AIA)'s 2024 Women's Leadership Summit in Chicago by two of our Architect Mentor Program (AMP) facilitators, AIA Wisconsin Secretary/Treasurer & 2024 Golden Award Winner Stacey Keller AIA NOMA NCARB and 2024 Young Architect Award Winner Andrea Cecelia, AIA LEED AP. Stacey and Andrea will be presenting the breakout session, "Amplifying Mentorship: Building the Next Generation of Resilient Architects," exploring strategies to cultivate strong mentor networks, especially for women and under-represented communities in architecture. They will discuss formal and informal mentorship models, including top-down, peer-level, and bottom-up approaches, offering actionable advice to foster partnerships that support career growth. Participants will also learn how to create mentorship programs within their own firms, leveraging key resources for long-term professional success. 📈 Are you attending the Women's Leadership Summit this week? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Women’s Leadership Summit started today in Chicago! 🎉 This year, we’re marking the 15th anniversary of #AIAWLS with three years of national female leadership and record female membership here at AIA. These next few days, we’re ecstatic—and honored—to host the largest network of women in the AEC industry. Today, we’ve connected in workshops focused on leadership, firm success, and mindfulness. Afterward, attendees toured some of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks and even had time for birdwatching. 🐦 Thank you to AIA Chicago, Chicago Architecture Center, and Studio Gang! Both evening events were sold out! 🎟️ The Chicago Architecture Center had an enlightening exhibit showcasing women architects’ contributions in Chicago. The open house at Studio Gang’s headquarters connected their firm leadership with attendees and gave a glimpse into the firm’s inner workings. See you tomorrow morning for our first keynote! 👋🏼 Learn more about how we’re supporting women in architecture: https://bit.ly/3XZnatf Thank you to our Featured sponsors for supporting this event & community: Andersen Windows & Doors, ConstructConnect, Deltek, James Hardie, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, OKNOPLAST US, Owens Corning, and Studio Gang #Architecture #WomenInArchitecture #Architect #Equity
